The popular animated show South Park has once again made headlines with its biting satire, this time targeting Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
While many of the jokes were aimed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn’t miss the opportunity to include a subtle jab at Michelle Obama as well.
In the episode, the royal couple is depicted as fictional characters, the Prince and Princess of Canada.
The storyline follows their journey from seeking privacy to hiring a PR agency to improve their brand image.
Viewers caught a glimpse of Meghan’s character profile on a database, which listed her various roles as a sorority actress, influencer, and victim.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s character was labeled as the “royal prince millionaire, world traveler victim.”
The show also cleverly included some cheeky interests for the princess, such as yoga, calligraphy, cuisine, writing, advocating, acting, blogging, feminism, and even pretending to be a lawyer and a first lady’s botherer.
This last reference is an insinuation that Meghan is bothering Michelle Obama, who has been known to have a close working relationship with both Harry and Meghan.
It is worth noting that Michelle Obama and Prince Harry have collaborated in the past, appearing together in a video promoting the 2016 Invictus Games.
Meghan and Michelle reportedly bonded over shared interests, including supporting and empowering women across cultures and communities, as well as causes like girls’ education.
However, according to Tom Bauer’s book “Revenge, Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,” Michelle Obama was taken aback by Meghan’s attitude when she was trying to find her role within the royal family.
In an interview, Michelle advised Meghan to take her time and not rush into anything, acknowledging the pressure and expectations that come with such a position.
She suggested that Meghan should focus on doing something that resonates with her personally, maximizing her impact for others while finding her own happiness.
Michelle Obama also commented on Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah, expressing her hope for forgiveness and healing within the family.
She emphasized the importance of using this moment as a teachable one for everyone.
Insiders have speculated that the Obamas are being cautious about publicly aligning themselves too closely with Harry and Meghan, out of respect for the Queen, whom they greatly admire.
This caution is likely due to concerns about their public image and the potential impact it may have on their relationship with the British monarchy.
As always, South Park has managed to tackle controversial topics with its characteristic wit and irreverence.
The episode serves as a reminder that even figures as prominent as Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Michelle Obama are not immune to the show’s satirical lens.
