Jay-Z reportedly banned Meghan Markle from the front row at Beyonce’s concert, with Tyler Perry also wanting to keep his distance from the Sussexes.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined a star-studded audience at Queen Bey’s performance at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Friday.
Accompanying them were Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and her close friend and former Suits co-star, Abigail Spencer, as they enjoyed the show from a private box.
It seems that Meghan was the driving force behind Harry attending the Beyonce concert.
While she eagerly embraced the opportunity to mingle with Hollywood A-listers, Harry may not have been as enthusiastic, leading to tension between them.
Interestingly, Lillibet’s godfather was also present at the concert but made it clear that he did not want any association with Harry and Meghan.
Tyler Perry, seated in the front row with Jay-Z, apparently discovered that Meghan had called the paparazzi and decided to distance himself from the couple.
Although Beyonce had a private section reserved for family and friends, Meghan was not among them.
Instead, she was seated in a separate box away from the stage.
It appears that Meghan’s exclusion from the VIP seating was a result of Jay-Z’s decision, as many A-listers reportedly hold negative feelings towards the Sussexes.
Jay-Z and his celebrity pals were seen dancing in the VIP area while Meghan watched from a distance.
This is not the first time the royal couple has crossed paths with Beyonce.
In 2019, Beyonce accepted a Brit award in front of a portrait depicting Meghan as a royal version of the Mona Lisa.
In a post explaining their decision to include Meghan in the artwork, Beyonce and Jay-Z wrote, “In honor of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our melanated Monas.
Congrats on your pregnancy.
We wish you so much joy.”
Beyonce publicly praised Meghan’s bravery following the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah, where Meghan revealed her experience of racism within the royal family.
Beyonce posted on her website, thanking Meghan for her courage and leadership.
However, it seems that Beyonce’s support for Harry and Meghan has wavered since the release of the Netflix series.
In an episode of the documentary Harry and Meghan, Meghan claimed to have received a supportive text from Beyonce.
She shared with the camera crew, “Beyonce just texted, just checking in.
I still can’t believe she knows who I am.
She said she wants me to feel safe and protected.
She admires and respects my bravery and vulnerability and thinks I was selected to break generational curses that need to be healed.”
Shortly after, Beyonce’s team denied sending any texts to Meghan following the Oprah interview.
The awkward encounters between the famous couples began at the Lion King premiere in 2019.
On the red carpet, Beyonce reportedly referred to Meghan as “my princess” during their small talk.
However, things became uncomfortable when the Sussexes approached the film’s director, Jon Favreau, and inquired about voiceover opportunities for Meghan.
Later in the evening, Prince Harry discussed his wife’s acting skills with Disney CEO Bob Iger, suggesting that she would be interested in voiceover work.
Iger seemed surprised by the revelation but expressed interest in exploring the idea.
It appears that Jay-Z’s decision to keep Meghan away from the front row at Beyonce’s concert, along with Tyler Perry distancing himself from the Sussexes, showcases the mixed dynamics between the royal couple and Hollywood’s elite.
