Andrew Lowney, author of “Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor,” suggests that Charles has made it clear that only the direct line of succession will hold importance.

This could potentially impact popular royals like Lady Louise Windsor and her brother James, Viscount Severn, whose positions may be diluted despite the prominent roles played by their parents, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Prince Edward, within the royal family.
