Prince Harry’s memoir, titled “Spare,” was released on Tuesday, and in a recent interview with Brian Gordon, the Duke revealed that his motivation behind publishing the book was to safeguard his brother’s children.
In an interview published on Substack, Harry clarified that his intention with “Spare” was not to launch an attack on the royal family but rather to express his concerns for his niece and nephews.
Harry explained, “I know that out of the three children, at least one will end up like me, the Spare.
That hurts.
It worries me.”
The relationship between Harry and his brother, Prince William, has often been described as that of an heir and a spare.
William is set to ascend the throne when their father, King Charles, passes away, while Harry has always played a secondary role, ready to step in if needed.
Currently, William’s eldest son, Prince George, holds the position of heir, being third in line to the throne.
On the other hand, his siblings, Prince Charlotte and Prince Louis, would fulfill the spare role.
According to Harry, “As I know full well within my family, if it’s not us, it’s going to be someone else.
And though William and I have talked about it once or twice, he’s made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility.
I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, though, at least one will end up like me, a spare.”
During an extensive conversation at his Montecito Home, Harry discussed his feelings towards the press and their relationship with the royal family, which he believes he is trying to salvage from self-destruction.
The 38-year-old claims that he may face severe criticism for his observations, but he sees it as his life’s mission to rectify what he perceives as the wrongs that pushed his family out of the UK.
Blaming the British press for his family’s departure, Harry draws parallels to the tragic deaths of his mother, Princess Diana, and TV presenter Caroline Flack, who took her own life at the age of 40.
He reached his breaking point when he found his wife, Meghan, in tears while caring for their son, Archie, after reading distressing newspaper stories.
Harry claims that if Meghan had continued to read such stories, she might not be alive today.
Now, the question arises: Is Harry genuinely protecting the Cambridge children, or is he once again betraying them?
Are the Sussexes now doomed?
