Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, recently took to social media to extend his warm wishes to all Americans on the occasion of Thanksgiving.
In his heartfelt post, he greeted Americans from coast to coast, including Manhattan and Malibu, both of which he had the opportunity to visit in the past few weeks.
Earl Spencer concluded his message with a turkey emoji and shared two images, each representing one of the locations he had visited.
Interestingly, fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also known as the Sussexes, speculate that Earl Spencer’s visit to California might have included a rendezvous with the couple.
However, it is important to note that just because he was in the state doesn’t necessarily mean he had the chance to see his nephew.
California is a vast region, after all, and the Sussexes have been constantly on the move for the past month.
Their busy schedule leaves little time for family visits.
It is worth mentioning that Prince Harry once revealed in his book, “Spare,” that he was deeply touched when his mother’s sisters, Lady Jane Fellows and Lady Sarah MacCorkdale, offered to lend one of Princess Diana’s tiaras for his wedding to Meghan.
However, Queen Elizabeth II had other plans.
She invited the couple for a private appointment at Buckingham Palace just days before their nuptials.
Upon their arrival at the palace, the Queen presented Meghan with a selection of five tiaras to choose from.
Joining them were a jewellery expert, an eminent historian, and Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser and confidant.
Prince Harry described the experience as extraordinary, as they entered his grandmother’s private dressing room, a space he had never been in before.
Each tiara was more stunning than the last, with one adorned with emeralds and another with aquamarines.
It is interesting to note that Meghan Markle was not allowed to wear the renowned Spencer tiara on her wedding day.
This tiara is exclusively available to women who marry into the Spencer family and take on the Spencer name.
One example is Sarah Jane, the first wife of Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother, who wore the tiara on her wedding day.
However, subsequent wives, such as Caroline Freud and Karen Gordon, did not have the privilege.
Recently, the Spencer tiara made an appearance at the wedding of Celia MacCorkdale, the daughter of Lady Sarah, who wore it with grace as she exchanged vows with George Woodhouse.
However, it is important to mention that Princess Charlotte, despite being a granddaughter of Diana, will not inherit the tiara since she does not bear the Spencer name by birthright.
Instead, it will be passed down to Louis Spencer, the eldest son of Earl Spencer, upon his father’s passing, as he is the heir to the Spencer earldom.
This raises the question: why was Meghan allowed to wear the tiara while Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, was not?
Prince Harry believed that his uncle and aunts approved of Meghan, seeing her as a reflection of their beloved sister.
However, according to Tom Bower’s book, it appears that their sentiments were quite the opposite.
