It seems that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been left out of yet another star-studded event.
This time, it was the prestigious awards ceremony hosted by George and Amal Clooney.
The couple, who were once close friends with Meghan, have reportedly distanced themselves from the Sussexes since their wedding in 2018.
Previously, George and Amal would frequently visit Harry and Meghan’s homes in Los Angeles and Oxfordshire.
However, it appears that their allegiance has shifted towards King Charles, as they recently attended a Prince’s Trust event in London in May.
Now, the Clooneys have taken their support for charitable causes to the next level.
At the second annual Albie Awards ceremony held in New York City, the Clooney Foundation for Justice, co-founded and operated by George and Amal Clooney, honored trailblazers and agents of change from around the world.
The ceremony, hosted by the Clooneys and Darren Walker of the Ford Foundation, took place at the New York Public Library.
Established in 2016, the Clooney Foundation for Justice provides free legal services to individuals who are in need of representation, advocating for human rights globally.
The awards ceremony aimed to amplify the work done by these deserving individuals, who often risk their lives for the greater good.
Among the attendees were renowned stars such as Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Matt Damon, and Julianna McGillis, all of whom presented awards.
The event also saw the presence of other celebrity couples, including Cindy Crawford and Randa Gerber, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
The recipients of the awards included organizations such as the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression, Truth Hounds, Niloufar Hamidi and Olahi Mohammadi, Thai Lawyers for Human Rights, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Dennis McWager.
These recipients were recognized for their efforts in addressing various issues, such as women’s rights in Syria, support for Ukrainians on the front lines of war, and fighting against rape as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The foundation aims to acknowledge them as heroes for their dedication to justice.
The event also had proud sponsors in attendance, including Donatella Versace and Charlotte Tilbury.
However, noticeably absent were Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were not invited to the Clooney Foundation Gala for the second year in a row.
Speculations suggest that Meghan’s lack of A-list status and concerns about her making the event all about herself may have influenced the decision.
It appears that when Harry and Meghan attend such events, they bring an air of controversy that organizers wish to avoid.
There are concerns that their presence could overshadow the purpose of the gala.
Hollywood insiders claim that Meghan’s entry into the industry has been met with resistance due to her perceived entitlement and lack of traditional dues-paying.
Interestingly, the Clooneys barely knew the Sussexes when they accepted the invitation to their wedding.
Meghan seemed to have formed a close bond with them, but as time went on, tensions arose.
Meghan’s jealousy towards the accomplished Amal became apparent, leading to passive-aggressive behavior.
Eventually, the leak of details about the Lake Como home strained their relationship further.
It remains unclear whether the lack of invitation was due to the Clooneys’ own decision or a result of miscommunication with their agency, WME.
However, it is evident that the Harkles, as they are sometimes referred to, are facing difficulties in gaining acceptance within the Hollywood elite.
Despite efforts by WME, they still struggle to secure invitations even to events as mundane as a Starbucks opening.
