Supermodel and activist Naomi Campbell has expressed her strong disapproval of Meghan Markle’s recent Vogue cover and Elle photoshoots, labeling them as fake and hypocritical.
In a candid interview with The Times, Campbell, known for her vocal support of women’s rights and racial equality, revealed feeling betrayed and disgusted by the Duchess of Sussex’s attempts to portray herself as a champion of women and diversity while disregarding and disrespecting those who paved the way for her.
Campbell was shocked and appalled by Meghan’s guest-edited September issue of British Vogue, which showcased 15 women as “forces for change” in the world.
She pointed out that the cover seemed to be an exact replica of a book she co-authored in 2016, titled “The Game Changers,” featuring 15 inspirational women, including Meghan herself.
To her surprise, Campbell was neither consulted nor credited for the idea.
She felt that Meghan had stolen and exploited her work for her own agenda.
Furthermore, Campbell expressed disappointment with the selection of women chosen by Meghan for the cover, stating that they were mostly celebrities and activists who lacked real impact or influence on the world.
In contrast, the women featured in Campbell’s book were scientists, engineers, businesswomen, and leaders.
One inclusion that particularly offended Campbell was Laverne Cox, a transgender actress and activist, who she believed had no connection to the Commonwealth or British culture that Meghan claimed to celebrate.
Campbell viewed this as Meghan pandering to the LGBTQ+ community, attempting to appear progressive and inclusive while disregarding the struggles and achievements of black women like herself who faced discrimination and prejudice.
Campbell also criticized Meghan’s recent photoshoot for Elle magazine, where she posed in various outfits and locations such as a garden, a library, and a kitchen.
Campbell described the photoshoot as a pathetic and desperate attempt by Meghan to portray herself as a normal and relatable person.
Campbell emphasized that, in reality, Meghan lived a lavish and privileged lifestyle funded by British taxpayers.
She accused Meghan of being a hypocrite and a liar, betraying the royal family and the British people by abandoning her royal duties and moving to the US with Prince Harry and their son Archie.
Campbell further expressed her sympathy towards Prince Harry, believing he had been manipulated and brainwashed by Meghan.
She hoped that he would eventually realize Meghan’s true colors and leave her.
Campbell made it clear that she had no respect or admiration for Meghan and would not collaborate with her or feature her in any of her projects.
She took pride in her own achievements and contributions to the world, stating that she did not need to copy or imitate anyone else.
Campbell reaffirmed her commitment to supporting and empowering women and minorities, contrasting herself with Meghan, whom she believed to be a fake and a fraud.
