Whoopi Goldberg, the outspoken host of The View, did not hold back her opinions on Meghan Markle and her controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During a heated discussion on the show, Goldberg took aim at the former actress and royal, calling her a hypocrite and a bimbo who is trying to destroy the monarchy.
Goldberg, who temporarily replaced Joy Behar on the panel, responded to Markle’s claims that she felt objectified and demeaned during her time as a model on the game show Deal or No Deal.
On her Archetypes podcast, Markle mentioned that she felt like a bimbo, having to wear revealing outfits and smile while holding a briefcase.
However, Goldberg was far from impressed by Markle’s complaints.
She argued that Markle willingly took the gig and should not make the other women on the show feel bad.
Goldberg suggested that the objectification may have stemmed from Markle herself and how she perceived the portrayal of the women on the show.
“When you’re a performer, you take the gig.
Sometimes you’re in a bozo suit, sometimes you have a big nose, and that’s just the way it is,” Goldberg stated firmly.
Goldberg also questioned Markle’s authenticity and credibility, accusing her of lying about her experience as a royal and playing the victim card.
She pointed out that Markle had enjoyed the perks and privileges of being part of the royal family, including extravagant weddings, vacations, and jewelry.
In Goldberg’s eyes, Markle had no right to complain about media scrutiny or family drama.
According to Goldberg, Markle’s actions were akin to being a drama queen, attempting to single-handedly undermine the monarchy and British culture, disrespecting the queen and the institution’s history.
Goldberg emphasized that Markle should have been aware of what she was getting into when she married Prince Harry.
Mocking Markle’s claims of suicidal thoughts and facing racism from the royal family and the press, Goldberg labeled them as exaggerations and manipulations to gain attention and sympathy.
She challenged Markle to provide evidence or proof to support her allegations, arguing that Markle was insulting real victims of racism and mental illness.
Goldberg’s comments ignited a fierce debate among both the co-hosts and viewers, with some agreeing with her perspective while others defended Markle.
However, Goldberg stood firm, asserting her right to criticize Markle as a public figure.
“I am a red-blooded, 100% American who celebrates freedom any way I can.
I don’t care about the monarchy or Meghan Markle,” Goldberg declared, unapologetic for her stance.
Her reaction to Markle’s interview quickly went viral on social media, garnering praise and criticism alike for her outspokenness.
Despite the backlash, Goldberg remained resolute, refusing to retract her statements.
She made it clear that she is not a fan of Markle and will continue to call her out for what she perceives as hypocrisy and bimboism.
