Catherine, the global style icon with immense influence, has long been admired for her fashion choices.
It comes as no surprise that women around the world try to emulate the Princess of Wales’ impeccable sense of style.
However, it seems that someone closer to home has also taken inspiration from Catherine’s wardrobe.
In a surprising turn of events, the mother-daughter duo stepped out in strikingly similar gowns at the Glittering Night Royal Variety Performance.
All eyes were on Princess Catherine and Prince William as they made their fourth appearance at the annual charity event in full glam.
Joining them in their box were Catherine’s parents, Carol and Michael Middleton, along with her brother and sister-in-law, James Middleton and Alizie Favoneth.
As Catherine gracefully emerged from her royal car to greet her awaiting fans at the London Palladium Theatre, she looked radiant in a black lace dress by Diane von Furstenberg.
Meanwhile, Carol Middleton opted for a shorter version of her daughter’s dress, paired with strappy heels – a style often championed by Catherine.
Both dresses featured lace, a prominent trend on this season’s catwalks, and were accessorized with dazzling jewels.
Prince William, dressed smartly as always, stayed close to his wife as she greeted the flurry of photographers with a smile.
This isn’t the first time that the pair have been seen dressing similarly.
In fact, it seems that Catherine not only shares her mother’s sense of style but also her clothes.
Carol Middleton was previously spotted wearing a coat that is part of Kate’s royal wardrobe when visiting her daughter at Adelaide Cottage.
The Princess of Wales herself had worn the same coat during a visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
While Carol paired the coat with black tights, Kate wore it over a beige dress.
Known for her impressive collection of cozy coats, Catherine’s style has clearly influenced her mother, Carol.
The Middleton men, James and Michael, looked dashing in classic suits and bow ties, while Carol and Alizie dressed up in elegant evening gowns.
Together, they enjoyed performances from renowned artists such as Ed Sheeran, Rod Stewart, James Blunt, as well as the cast of Moulin Rouge!, Matilda the Musical, and Cirque du Soleil.
The Glittering Night Royal Variety Performance held special significance this year as it marked the centenary of Queen Elizabeth being the patron of the event.
The tradition was initiated by Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather, King George V, in 1921.
While it is rare for Catherine’s parents and siblings to accompany her on royal outings, the Middleton family shares a close bond with each other as well as the royal family.
They have even been invited to Balmoral, the late Queen’s Scottish estate where she spent her summer months.
Catherine and Prince William were also present at James and Alizie’s wedding in France, ensuring that the attention remained on the newlyweds.
The couple’s genuine humility and desire to support their loved ones was evident throughout the festivities.
Francois Arizzi, the mayor of the idyllic hilltop village of Bournemouth les Mimosas, where the civil union took place, shared his experience with the royal couple.
He humorously remarked, “I was able to interact with William and Catherine in very poor English.
We discussed the charms of Bournemouth les Mimosas and its banal climate.
It was a simple moment, and I wasn’t more impressed than that.”
The strong bond between Catherine and her siblings, James and Pippa, is well-known.
When James sought therapy for his depression, the entire family joined him in therapy sessions, which proved to be invaluable in understanding his struggles.
James expressed his gratitude, stating, “That was so important because it helped them understand me and how my mind was working.
The therapy sessions allowed my family to start understanding.
What more could we ask for?”
The mother-daughter duo’s matching gowns at the Glittering Night Royal Variety Performance showcased not only their shared sense of style but also the close-knit relationship they share.
