In a heartwarming video shared by the BBC Today, a previously unseen moment between Princess Catherine and King Charles has been revealed.
The clip is from their upcoming documentary, Charles III, The Coronation Year, and showcases a touching interaction between the two.
As the monarch and Queen Camilla return to Buckingham Palace, they are greeted by members of the royal household and family.
Among them, Princess Catherine curtsies and kisses King Charles, marking a special moment in their relationship.
Before the king’s arrival, staff members were positioned on the stairs, ready to give three cheers for the royal couple upon their return to the palace.
As Prince William and Catherine enter, other members of the royal family, including Prince Edward, congratulate the king with a kiss on the cheek.
Catherine follows suit, showing her respect and admiration for King Charles by kissing him as well, before gracefully curtsying to His Majesty.
The behind-the-scenes footage also reveals Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Catherine, making an adorable appearance alongside his grandfather, King Charles, during the coronation back in May.
In one segment, King Charles shares a sweet joke with his grandson, wearing his red uniform and fixing his gloves as they prepare for the momentous event.
The king playfully raises his arm in his robe, exclaiming, “I can fly,” while gesturing towards Prince George and the other page boys.
He then asks them, “Shall we get ourselves organized round there?”
Princess Anne, shedding light on Charles’ emotions at that moment, explains, “Ask any actor who comes off stage having done a performance that they really put a lot into, it’s that kind of relief.”
The newly released footage also captures the queen, wearing her white-and-gold embroidered Bruce Oldfield gown and robes, displaying a hint of nervousness as she makes her way to the carriage.
Her four pages accompany her, diligently holding up her dress, while she cheerfully remarks, “Here we are with all the lads.”
Prince George’s involvement in the coronation ceremony was significant as he became the youngest future king to play an official role in a crowning.
Traditionally, this role is given to boys aged 12 to 15, but George’s deep interest and understanding led to his selection as the king’s youngest page boy.
This historic moment further solidifies King Charles’ reputation as a loving and doting grandfather.
King Charles has always shown his affection for his grandchildren through thoughtful gestures.
On Prince George’s first birthday, Charles gifted him a lavish Victorian-style shepherd’s hut installed at the King and Queen’s Gloucestershire Estate, Highgrove.
The hut, complete with a wood-burning stove and daybed, remains a popular play area for the Wales children during their visits to their grandparents in the countryside.
Similarly, when Prince William turned 7 in 1989, his father installed a treehouse at Highgrove, which has since been renovated for Prince William and Catherine’s children.
The love and care King Charles has for his family extend beyond physical gifts.
Balmoral Forest now bears Prince George’s name, as revealed by Charles during an appearance on The One Show in 2021.
This gesture signifies the strong bond between King Charles and his grandson.
As Prince George celebrates his 10th birthday, King Charles and Queen Camilla were among the first to wish him well on social media.
The official Instagram and Twitter pages of the royal family reposted a new photo of the birthday boy, released by Prince William and Catherine, in honor of the occasion.
The caption on Twitter read, “‘Happy birthday to Prince George,” accompanied by a birthday cake emoji.
The same image and caption appeared on the royal family’s official Instagram story.
The photograph, taken by Millie Pilkington in Windsor, captures George looking more grown-up than ever, sitting on steps, wearing a button-down shirt and long pants.
Continuing the tradition, Prince William and Catherine, both 41 years old, released a new portrait of their eldest on the eve of his birthday.
The image was shared on their official Prince and Princess of Wales accounts, showcasing the love and pride they have for their son as he enters a new decade of life.
