Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly turned down an invitation to attend the highly anticipated wedding of the year.
The reason behind their decision is said to be a desire to avoid any uncomfortable confrontations with Prince William and Princess Kate.
This news comes at a time when the rift between the two couples continues to grow.
According to sources, Prince Harry personally reached out to the groom, Hugh Grosvenor, to explain why they would not be able to attend the wedding.
Despite their long-standing friendship and Prince Harry even being named as Prince Archie’s godfather, he felt it was best to decline the invitation.
An insider revealed that Prince Harry received a save the date card a few months ago but decided it would be too awkward for him and Meghan Markle to attend.
If they had attended, it would have been the first time Meghan and Kate came face to face since the Queen’s funeral in September 2022.
However, it seems that their relationship has not healed since Meghan and Harry stepped away from the royal family in 2020.
In fact, according to Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame, they haven’t spoken to each other since 2019.
The Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, is a close personal friend of both Prince Harry and Prince William.
It is surprising that Prince Harry declined the invitation, as he is the godfather to both of the brothers’ sons and even attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018.
The wedding is scheduled to take place on June 7th at Chester Cathedral, and invitations have already been sent out to other members of the royal family, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
While it appears clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be in attendance, there are conflicting reports suggesting otherwise.
Some sources claim that the couple never received an invitation in the first place.
The Times reported that the Duke of Westminster intentionally excluded them from the guest list to avoid any potential family clashes within the House of Windsor.
The decision made by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to decline the invitation further highlights the strained relationship between the two couples.
It is evident that tensions continue to rise, and the possibility of a reconciliation seems distant.
As the royal rift deepens, it remains to be seen how this will impact the dynamics within the British monarchy.
