Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have embarked on a Christmas holiday to Costa Rica, accompanied by their children Archie and Lilibet.
The decision to spend the festive season away from the Royal Family and the UK indicates a shift in the Sussexes’ holiday traditions.
For the past three years, Meghan and Harry have celebrated Christmas in the US, and this year marks Lilibet’s first Christmas outside of the UK.
Upon their arrival in Costa Rica on December 14, the couple was spotted strolling through the trees and even taking a ride in a golf buggy.
Their time in Costa Rica primarily revolved around exploring the picturesque Playa Carrillo and the local beaches in the Guanacoste province, renowned for their pristine sand.
However, their stay was brief as they departed on December 20, heading back to the US to spend Christmas.
In November, Prince Harry extended an olive branch to the Royal Family by calling King Charles on his 75th birthday.
Meghan Markle also had a conversation with the King on his special day, raising hopes of a possible reconciliation and the prospect of spending Christmas together.
Unfortunately, the release of Omid Scobie’s explosive royal book, Endgame, at the end of November seems to have dashed any chance of a festive reunion between the Sussexes and the senior royals.
Nevertheless, King Charles has decided to expand the guest list for Christmas at Sandringham, making room for additional family members.
Queen Camilla’s children and grandchildren will now join the Royal Family for part of the holiday period.
However, this change in plans has left some royal staff discontented, as they have been asked to relinquish their rooms to accommodate the visitors and relocate to smaller quarters.
As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry enjoy their Christmas break in Costa Rica, it is evident that they are forging their own path and creating new traditions for their growing family.
