In a year filled with ridicule, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves at the center of global mockery.
The South Park episode earlier this year, in particular, showcased the public’s perception of the couple, and even they failed to see the humor in it.
Initially, there were legal threats, but eventually, they had to relent as it would have reflected poorly on them.
South Park cleverly disguised the couple as characters without explicitly naming them.
This incident was followed by further derision from various sources, leaving Harry and Meghan undoubtedly displeased.
But what led to this situation?
Good morning, I’m Neil Sean, and I’m here to bring you the true story behind it all.
Recently, a documentary about the king’s coronation shed light on an interesting event involving the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
He was seen attending a special invitation at Balmoral, an annual gathering where the Prime Minister gets the chance to spend private time with the monarch and engage in discussions.
It’s worth noting that Rishi mentioned how he had never eaten so much, as the event seemed to consist of one endless banquet after another.
Perhaps not the wisest thing to mention on camera.
During the Christmas period, Mr. Sunak released a spoof video from 10 Downing Street, inspired by the movie “Home Alone.”
It depicted the Prime Minister running around, flicking lights, and indulging in chocolates.
Towards the end of the video, he picked up the phone, pretending to call the Number 10 press office, only to say, “No, wrong number, Harry.”
Many interpreted this as the British Prime Minister mocking Prince Harry, the former royal known as the Duke of Sussex.
However, there is a larger context to consider.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry found himself in the Royal Courts of Justice, defending himself against another press litigation.
During the proceedings, he made a notable statement, pointing out that confidence in the British government was at an all-time low.
This remark did not go unnoticed and sent shockwaves through the government.
It is rare for a member of the royal family to comment on political matters, making Harry’s statement particularly damaging for the current administration.
Although unrelated to the case at hand, Prince Harry seemed unfazed by any potential consequences.
While some may argue that the spoof video was simply lighthearted humor during the festive season, it may have been ill-advised for Rishi Sunak, especially considering the ongoing cost of living crisis.
However, one could also speculate that he was seeking revenge, waiting six months to respond to Prince Harry’s earlier comment.
Whether or not this offended the monarch, Mr. Sunak appeared to be indifferent.
This incident reflects the level of ridicule that Harry and Meghan have now reached.
It’s a strange world we live in, wouldn’t you agree?
