In the latest revelations from Omid Scobie’s upcoming book, “Endgame,” it is claimed that Meghan Markle and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, were encouraged by the royal family to dress and style themselves like Princess Diana.
While some may find this claim shocking, it is not entirely unexpected given their connection to Diana as the wives of her sons.
However, according to Scobie, the encouragement went beyond simply wearing Diana’s accessories and extended to replicating her iconic looks.
Scobie writes in his book that Meghan and Catherine often replicated Diana’s iconic style, even going as far as wearing accessories once owned by the late princess.
He suggests that the effort put into emulating Diana’s exact look sometimes verges on excess.
In fact, he claims that Diana cosplay has become a staple within the royal family over the past 13 years.
According to a royal insider cited by Page Six, decisions regarding Meghan and Catherine’s outfits were always discussed with Prince William or Prince Harry, and there were gentle pushes from others at times.
It was not uncommon for images of Diana at specific places or times to be used as inspiration.
However, Meghan’s attempt to blame the royal family for her love of cosplaying Diana seems far-fetched.
Critics argue that Meghan’s fascination with the British royal family and, specifically, Diana, predates her relationship with Prince Harry.
They point to instances such as Meghan’s pose during humanitarian work in Africa, which closely resembled Diana’s iconic hands-on-hips pose.
Photos from before Meghan met Harry also show her cosplaying Diana, undermining her claim of ignorance about the royal family.
The debate raises two possibilities.
Either Harry did not write the spare, and it was Meghan all along, or Harry is simply unaware of Meghan’s knowledge of his family.
Both possibilities are equally disheartening.
Meghan’s childhood friends have attested to her obsession with the royal family, with pictures of them adorning her bedroom walls.
It is implausible for Meghan to claim ignorance about the people whose images she cherished.
Scobie’s book also suggests that Meghan’s emulation of Diana is orchestrated within a system that contributed to Diana’s misery.
However, it is only natural for William, as Diana’s son and future king, to discuss his mother’s influence since her legacy is an integral part of their lives.
Meghan and Harry’s decision to distance themselves from the royal family does not invalidate William’s right to talk about his mother.
While Catherine has been seen wearing pieces from Diana’s collection, she adds her own twist to them.
Meghan, on the other hand, appears to copy Diana’s style entirely.
This has led some to believe that Meghan wants to be the reincarnation of Diana rather than simply cosplaying her.
Examples such as Meghan wearing Diana’s perfume on her first date with Harry and their Time magazine cover, which mirrored a pose struck by Diana and a young Prince Harry, further fuel this speculation.
Meghan’s desperate attempts to deflect blame onto the royal family for her constant cosplaying of Diana are seen as futile.
The fact remains that Meghan lacks a distinct personality and tries too hard to compete with Catherine.
Meghan’s body shape differs significantly from Diana’s and Catherine’s, leading to criticisms of her fashion choices.
Instead of accepting herself and finding clothing that suits her figure, Meghan continues to imitate Diana, despite the stark differences.
Ultimately, Meghan’s refusal to acknowledge that Catherine will one day be queen while she will not suggests deeper mental health issues.
Her sense of entitlement and inability to accept certain realities raise concerns about her well-being.
While the royal family made the decision to distance themselves from Meghan, it seems America is still grappling with how to handle her.
The question remains: What are your thoughts on the claim that the royal family pushed Meghan to cosplay Diana?
