In a recent skit on the comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL), Meghan Markle became the target of jokes, with the sketch taking aim at Prince William and Princess Kate’s Christmas card.
The Waleses had recently released their adorable Christmas card, which sent royal enthusiasts into a frenzy.
The card featured William, Kate, and their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – all dressed in matching outfits, radiating happiness in a black-and-white snapshot.
During the SNL skit, cast member Colin Jost pointed out an interesting detail in the card, which he cleverly incorporated into a joke about Meghan Markle.
He highlighted a bad Photoshop job where it appeared that Prince Louis’ finger was missing.
Jost then amusingly mentioned that Meghan had offered her own finger as a replacement if needed.
To emphasize this gag, a pixelated photo of Meghan seemingly making an offensive gesture was displayed alongside the Wales Christmas card.
This is not the first time the Duchess of Sussex has been subject to such humor.
Back in March, SNL caused a stir when they made fun of Meghan attending King Charles’ coronation.
Comedian Michael Che took a jab at her by joking about the speculation surrounding her and Prince Harry’s presence at the event.
As he made his quip, a mocked-up image of Meghan wearing a maid’s outfit was shown behind him, with Che mentioning that she had been offered a starting salary of £15 an hour to attend the coronation.
The recent SNL skit is just one example of how the Sussexes have become targets for satire.
South Park previously satirized the couple and their alleged demands for privacy on the global stage.
In addition, the popular TV series Family Guy took a swipe at the former royal duo in an episode that aired in October.
The show mocked their multi-million pound deal with Netflix and implied that influencing was one of the few ways they could make money after stepping down as senior working royals earlier this year.
It seems that Meghan Markle’s presence in the public eye continues to provide ample material for comedians and satirists.
Despite the jokes, the Duchess remains a prominent figure, attracting attention from both admirers and critics alike.
As the Sussexes navigate their new roles outside the royal family, it is clear that their actions and choices will continue to be scrutinized and parodied.
