Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, were the center of attention at the glamorous 1805 Live charity event held in Santa Barbara on Friday.
Fresh from their trip to the Invictus Games in Germany, the couple mingled with fellow guests such as Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres at the fundraiser, which took place at Kevin Costner’s lavish $26 million estate.
The event also saw the presence of other VIPs, including Katy Perry’s parents and the popular band Maroon 5, who treated the audience to a captivating live performance.
Tickets for general admission to 1805 Live were priced at $350, while a table of last-minute tickets was available for a staggering $12,000.
The funds raised during the event were dedicated to supporting first responder agencies in Santa Barbara County.
However, there seems to be some intrigue surrounding Harry and Meghan’s attendance.
Were they invited as guests of a guest?
Did they pay the hefty $12,000 per head ticket price?
Is there any connection between Meghan and the charity?
And why was she chosen to present an award to Kevin Costner?
It turns out that the couple’s presence at the event can be attributed to their association with the talent agency WME.
As Kevin Costner is now represented by WME, the agency decided to include Harry and Meghan in the event at the last minute.
Speculation suggests that either WME or Meghan’s close friend, Arsewell, purchased the table, allowing them to bring along Grid as a guest since they reside in the area and have a vested interest in supporting the local firehouse.
However, it seems they didn’t pay for the tickets themselves but rather managed to secure them through persuasion.
While Kevin Costner may have reluctantly endured the presence of the Duke and Duchess, he made sure to divert attention away from them by accepting the award from Meghan with minimal interaction and swiftly shifting the focus back to the event’s purpose of honoring first responders.
It was a total boss move on Costner’s part, effectively upstaging the couple’s attempt to steal the limelight.
Contrary to popular belief, Harry and Meghan were not sought out as special guests but rather invited as clients of WME.
As for Meghan’s involvement in the event, she was not specifically chosen to do anything but rather took the opportunity to bring along Prince as her plus one.
Although Prince’s presence added some star power, it appeared that 1805 Live didn’t make a big fuss over the couple.
They simply handed over a small ceramic heart-shaped bowl as a token of appreciation, and that was the extent of their involvement.
In reality, it seems like a waste of money for Harry and Meghan, who only managed to capture a few photos of themselves mingling with other celebrities, most of whom paid them little attention.
During the event, Harry and Meghan were also seen engaging in conversation with Kevin Costner before he took the stage to address the attendees.
In his speech, Costner humorously remarked that people often assume it’s Harry who asks about the cost of real estate, but it’s more likely that Meghan is the one behind such inquiries.
