Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making efforts to mend their strained relationship with King Charles during the festive season, according to a reliable source.
The couple’s strategy this Christmas is focused on reconciliation with the Royal Family after months of tension.
However, doubts have been raised about the possibility of a genuine reconciliation, especially in light of the controversial claims made against the Royals in Omid Scobie’s book, “Endgame.”
While it is unlikely that Prince Harry will be spending Christmas with his father, he reportedly intends to reach out to the 75-year-old monarch, along with his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Despite residing in Montecito, California, the Sussexes are determined to establish a connection with King Charles during the holiday season.
Page Six, citing a well-placed source, revealed that Harry and Meghan’s new approach centers around reconciliation.
The Duke of Sussex, who will celebrate his 40th birthday next September, is mindful of the passage of time and the need to heal familial wounds, as reported by the publication.
Since their relocation from the UK to the US in early 2020, relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family have been extremely strained.
The couple has made a series of claims against the Royals, starting with their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, which sent shockwaves around the world.
Their six-part documentary series on Netflix, released in December 2022, further fueled the controversy, followed by Harry’s tell-all memoir, “Spare,” where he made additional revelations.
It is believed that Prince Harry has not spoken to his brother, Prince William, in over a year.
Although he has visited the UK a few times in recent months, reports suggest that he did not meet with his father or brother.
However, Harry and Meghan did reach out to King Charles on his 75th birthday last month, with their children Prince Archie, aged 4, and Princess Lilibet, aged 2, even singing to their grandfather over the phone.
This week, King Charles recorded his annual Christmas Day speech at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
The speech will be broadcast in the UK on December 25 at 3pm, as well as in Commonwealth countries such as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Interestingly, reports indicate that the King did not mention Prince Harry or Meghan Markle in his recorded message.
