In a significant development, Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has been urged to endorse a major move that would effectively block Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from ascending to the positions of King and Queen.
The call for action comes amidst concerns about the couple’s current position in the line of succession and their decision to step back from royal duties.
Currently, Prince Harry holds the fifth position in the line of succession.
However, in the unfortunate event of both the King and Prince William’s family facing a tragedy, Prince Harry would find himself next in line to assume the crown.
This has sparked a debate regarding the need to strip the Sussexes of their titles and privileges.
Richard Eden, the diary editor of the Daily Mail, has expressed his support for Bob Seley’s proposed bill, which aims to remove the titles of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Eden also believes that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak should encourage the King to take this step.
During an episode of the YouTube show Palace Confidential, Eden highlighted the potential consequences of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle assuming the throne.
He stated, “We are in a legal position where if something awful happened, and we lost Prince William and his family and the King, it would be Harry and Meghan on the throne.
Can you imagine that?
King Henry and Queen Meghan, that needs to be addressed and they need to be removed from the line of succession.”
The couple’s recent attacks on the royal family through bombshell interviews, documentaries, and Prince Harry’s memoir have further fueled calls for the removal of their titles.
The release of Omid Scobie’s book, “Endgame,” has only exacerbated the situation, as it contains damaging information that has thrown Buckingham Palace into crisis.
However, despite growing demands for their titles to be stripped, royal editor Rebecca English has dismissed the possibility of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle losing their titles.
She spoke to an insider who assured her that Prince Charles, the next in line to the throne, would not take such action.
The insider explained that Queen Elizabeth had bestowed the titles upon the couple out of respect, and it would be seen as punitive and humiliating for Prince Charles to remove them.
Richard Kaye, the editor-at-large of the Daily Mail, echoed English’s sentiments, stating that there is no chance Prince Charles would take such a step against his own son.
He also highlighted an interesting point, noting that if their titles were to be removed, Meghan would still be referred to as Princess Harry, similar to Princess Michael of Kent.
In America, where Meghan is from, the title of princess holds higher prestige than that of duchess.
Kaye concluded by suggesting that stripping their titles would only generate more publicity and financial gain for the couple.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that King Charles himself would remove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s titles.
The monarch is reportedly seeking to foster friendlier relations with the couple and is keen on spending time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Insiders have even hinted at a possible invitation for the Sussexes to join the royal family at Sandringham for Christmas, an offer they would accept if extended, although no official invitations have been sent yet.
