Queen Camilla is set to join the growing list of royal podcasters, following in the footsteps of Sarah Ferguson, who recently launched her own series.
The podcast, titled “Royal Pancakes,” promises to provide listeners with updates and insights into the British Royal Family.
However, unlike typical YouTube videos, we won’t ask you to subscribe or click any notifications.
Let’s dive into the details.
Scheduled to debut in January 2024, Queen Camilla’s podcast will release new episodes every week.
As part of her work with The Reading Room, a charity dedicated to promoting access to literature and the joys of reading worldwide, the Queen herself will host the show.
Joining her as co-host will be Vicky Perrin, the CEO of the charity.
The series aims to feature interviews with notable guests, including Dame Joanna Lumley and Sir Ian Rankin.
Their discussions will revolve around their favorite books and the impact these works have had on their lives.
It’s an opportunity for listeners to embark on a literary journey alongside influential personalities.
While Queen Camilla may be the latest royal to venture into podcasting, she is not the first.
Earlier this year, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, launched her own podcast series called “Tea Talks,” co-hosted by her close friend Sarah Thompson.
However, perhaps the most well-known royal podcast endeavor was Meghan Markle’s “Archetypes.”
Meghan and Prince Harry signed an exclusive deal with Spotify in 2022 to produce audio content, including the “Archetypes” series.
Unfortunately, the podcast was discontinued after just one season.
Spotify and Archewell Audio, the production company founded by the Sussexes, announced their decision to part ways earlier this summer.
Speculation arose that Spotify was dissatisfied with the output from the Sussexes, as they only released 12 episodes over a span of two and a half years.
In an interview with the BBC, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek acknowledged that while some of their podcast ventures had been successful, others had not met expectations.
The company is now focusing on new innovations and offering creators unique opportunities.
In contrast, Queen Camilla’s Reading Room series aims to engage listeners by exploring their favorite books and sharing personal recommendations.
Vicky Perrin, the co-host, expressed excitement about the podcast, noting that there’s nothing quite like receiving a book recommendation from a beloved author or admired individual.
She hopes the show will inspire listeners to embark on new literary adventures and kindle a deeper love for books.
