As per royal tradition, the royal family will attend the Christmas Day service at Sandringham Church.
King Charles, known for his adherence to customs, will ensure that these traditions are respected as he celebrates Christmas with Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family.
Following in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, His Majesty has chosen to convene the Christmas festivities at his Norfolk residence, Sandringham.
Joining the King and Queen will be Prince William, Kate, the Princess of Wales, and their three children.
The King’s younger siblings and their families will also be in attendance.
Grant Harold, a former royal butler, shed some light on what goes on behind closed doors at the royal residence and emphasized the importance of traditions during the holiday season.
According to Harold, there are numerous long-standing traditions associated with the Christmas period for the royals, some of which date back centuries.
King Charles, being a traditionalist at heart, prefers things to be done in an old-fashioned manner and will continue to uphold these customs during the holidays.
One of the highlights of the King’s Christmas celebrations is the annual Christmas party, which has grown significantly over the years.
From around 20 people in the past, the guest list now reaches an impressive number, leaving one to wonder how many attendees there will be this year.
Recalling his time working for the then Prince of Wales, Harold shared fond memories of the Christmas dinners hosted by the King.
These dinners were particularly cherished by royal aides, as they provided an opportunity to witness a different side of their employers.
Harold mentioned that during his tenure, the dinners were sit-down affairs, and he even had the privilege of sharing a table with Prince William while the King sat close by.
The atmosphere was filled with humor and joy, allowing everyone to see the royals in a natural environment, where they could joke and laugh.
During the Christmas festivities, the King will also deliver a speech, expressing gratitude to everyone for their contributions throughout the year.
This occasion is truly remarkable and one that Harold thoroughly enjoyed being a part of.
After attending Mass at St Mary Magdalene’s Church on Christmas morning, the King and Queen are expected to lead the Royal Family on their traditional walk back to Sandringham.
This walk provides an opportunity for the Royal Family to greet members of the public and exchange Christmas well wishes.
