Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s luxurious residence in Montecito might soon be on the market, as reports suggest that their neighbors have reached their breaking point.
The couple is rumored to be selling their lavish £11 million mansion, with plans to purchase a more modestly-priced £3 million property in Malibu.
Last September, they had considered building a massive 10,000-square-foot home on a piece of land but ultimately decided against it.
Despite the grandeur of their current nine-bedroom Californian abode, locals claim to rarely see the family of four, including their children Archie and Lilibet.
Barry Mayer, a PR expert and resident of the area, expressed growing frustration among locals due to Meghan and Harry’s jet-setting lifestyle.
He revealed that while the couple lives nearby, their residence is in a considerably more expensive neighborhood.
“Though nobody around here is exactly living in cardboard boxes,” Barry explained, “since we never see them, local tolerance seems to mirror USA tolerance in general.
People who like them seem to have an unlimited tolerance, no matter what they do.”
Others, however, are either unimpressed by the couple’s constant drama or simply tired of hearing about them.
Last October, there were rumors that Prince Harry was attempting to derail their planned move to Malibu because he had developed a fondness for New York City.
The Sussexes have been spotted in the Big Apple frequently, and Harry appears to have taken a liking to the fast pace, culture, and social scene.
A friend of Harry’s shared, “He loves the fast pace, the culture, the social scene.
He also mentioned that getting back to London would be a breeze from New York, it’s only an 8-hour flight compared to nearly 11 hours from Malibu.”
While Meghan initially proposed the idea of moving to Malibu, it now seems peculiar that Harry wants to change plans.
A source close to the couple revealed, “It feels odd that now he wants out of that California life and is suggesting they buy a place in New York instead.
It’s almost like he’s trying to sabotage things because it makes zero logical sense.”
On the other hand, Meghan is keen on staying close to Los Angeles for her career, frequently attending work meetings in the city multiple times a week.
She believes that being near Hollywood will facilitate the creation of meaningful relationships through face-to-face contact.
However, she also understands Harry’s desire to reconnect with his family and friends in London.
The couple has reportedly found a compromise, agreeing that once they have achieved success in Hollywood, they can consider buying a place in New York.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has faced criticism from locals.
In October, reports surfaced of discontent among the community, with one affluent neighbor stating, “Meghan is high and mighty, and we can’t wait for her to go.”
The Sussexes have received a less-than-favorable reception, with Meghan’s attitude being a particular bone of contention.
One neighbor even accused her of manipulating Prince Harry.
According to a recent survey, 33% of respondents disapproved of Meghan, while only 31% approved, resulting in an overall net approval rating of minus 2.
This marks an 8-point decline since June.
In contrast, Harry’s approval rating stood at 39%, with 27% expressing dislike, giving him a net approval rating of 12.
However, this also represents a drop from previous polls, where he enjoyed a net approval rating of plus 18.
As the speculation surrounding their living arrangements continues, it remains to be seen whether Meghan and Harry will indeed sell their Montecito mansion and embark on a new chapter in Malibu or potentially New York City.
The couple’s next move is eagerly anticipated by both fans and critics alike.
