Living in the tranquil suburbs of Montecito, California may not be as fulfilling for Prince Harry as he had hoped.
The Duke of Sussex, who stepped down from his role as a senior royal in search of a more normal life, seems to be grappling with boredom and uncertainty.
According to royal expert Tom Quinn, residing in a gated community has only exacerbated his feelings of isolation.
In an interview with Daily Express US, Quinn shed light on Harry’s current predicament.
“He gets bored down there,” Quinn revealed.
The author of “Scandals of the Royal Palaces” explained that Harry now has less to occupy his time compared to when he resided in the United Kingdom.
Living in a secluded community has seemingly limited his day-to-day activities, leaving him with a void that needs filling.
Quinn delved into Harry’s concerns about the future, stating that the prince is likely deeply worried.
Reflecting on Harry’s time at Eton College, Quinn noted that he didn’t exert much effort academically, knowing that he wouldn’t be expected to pursue a conventional career once he finished his studies.
However, now that he has distanced himself from his royal duties, Harry finds himself faced with significant decisions regarding how to spend his time.
Unlike before, he no longer has a team of advisors guiding his every move.
Describing Harry’s present life, Quinn shared insights from individuals acquainted with the prince.
“I have heard from people who know them that he gets bored down there,” Quinn disclosed.
“He has even less to do than he did here.”
This transition from being a member of the British royal family, engaged in charitable work, to having fewer responsibilities in the United States has proven challenging for Harry.
Even his leisure activities, such as cycling, require a security detail due to his high-profile status.
Furthermore, Quinn expressed his belief that public interest in Harry and his wife, Meghan, is waning.
“I think people are starting to lose interest in Harry and Meghan,” he stated.
This sentiment comes after the couple released their Christmas card, featuring a photo from this year’s Invictus Games.
The Invictus Games, a passion project for Harry, will be held in Vancouver, Canada in 2024.
This endeavor may add to his already extensive to-do list.
As Prince Harry grapples with the uncertainties of his post-royal life, it remains to be seen how he will find fulfillment and purpose in Montecito.
