Princess Anne, known for her no-nonsense approach, may have sent a secret message to Harry and Meghan during her recent visit to Sri Lanka.
The Princess Royal arrived at Bandranike International Airport in Katinuyak with her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, and was photographed carrying her own bags as she disembarked from the plane.
Sporting a pair of retro Adidas sunglasses, she effortlessly exuded coolness, capturing the attention of onlookers.
As one of the hardest working members of the royal family, Anne had taken on the first overseas visit of 2024 at the request of the Foreign Office.
The palace confirmed that she would be engaging in various activities, including meeting with local communities and faith groups in Colombo, the capital city.
Additionally, she planned to visit Kandy in central Sri Lanka and Jaffna in the northern part of the country.
Accompanying Anne on this visit was Andrew Patrick, the British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka.
Fans were quick to praise the Princess Royal for carrying her own bags, with one person commenting, “I love this.
The Princess Royal carries her own bags.”
Another admirer added, “Princess Anne is no-nonsense and perfectly able to carry her own bags aboard.
Love it.”
The royal couple chose to fly with Sri Lankan Airlines for their journey.
The airline took to social media to express their delight in welcoming the Princess Royal and her delegation, stating, “A service fit for a royal.
We’re delighted to welcome on board Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on a journey from London to Colombo on a two-day official visit to mark the 75 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the UK.
It’s truly an honour to extend Her Royal Highness and the delegation our inherent Sri Lankan warmth and hospitality, by presenting the first taste of our island home through our service.”
They also expressed gratitude to the couple for choosing their airline for the visit.
This is Anne’s second visit to Sri Lanka, with her first taking place in 1995.
During her previous visit, she focused on projects supported by Save the Children, a charity she has been involved with for over 50 years and proudly serves as a patron.
Other members of the royal family, including King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth II, have also visited Sri Lanka in the past.
A comparison was drawn between Princess Anne and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, highlighting the differences in their approach to public appearances.
While Anne carries her own bags and handles her own affairs, the Sussexes are known for their entourage and reliance on others for assistance.
A royal commentator remarked on the disparity, stating that Meghan Markle could learn from Princess Anne’s humility and dedication to philanthropy.
The commentator emphasized that Anne has never sought to exploit her status or overstay her welcome, contrasting her with the Sussexes’ choices in the public eye.
In light of these observations, it is clear that Princess Anne has a lot to teach Harry and Meghan about their publicity choices.
Unlike them, she has never tried to cash in on her status or push herself into the limelight.
The Princess Royal remains true to herself, never attempting to be someone she is not, and has earned the admiration and respect of the public as a result.
