Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are making efforts to maintain their royal image by engaging in activities that may be perceived as faux-royal, according to royal expert Kinsey Schofield.
While some may consider them celebrities or reality stars, Schofield emphasizes that perception is reality, especially when it comes to impressing certain individuals.
During a conversation with Daily Express US, Schofield highlighted Prince Harry’s recent appearance at a Vancouver Canucks hockey game, where he dropped the puck.
Schofield classified this engagement as faux-royal and suggested that the Sussexes are intentionally upholding the visual aspects of royalty.
It seems that Harry and Meghan are insistent on being referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in public, as they strive to maintain the perception of their royal status.
Interestingly, Schofield drew attention to Sarah Ferguson, who came to America with the intention of capitalizing on her association with the royal family.
Ferguson collaborated with Oprah Winfrey on multiple occasions, ventured into film production, authored books, and even appeared as a product endorser on home shopping networks.
Queen Elizabeth II, however, discouraged members of the royal family from using their positions for commercial gain.
Consequently, Harry and Meghan were prohibited from using the term “Sussex royal” to promote their businesses.
Katie Nicholls from Vanity Fair shared her insights on the matter, stating that Harry, as a Prince of England, and Meghan, as the Duchess of Sussex, are acutely aware of the need to approach any business deals with caution.
This suggests that they are conscious of maintaining their royal titles while navigating the world of commercial opportunities.
Since their departure from the royal family, Meghan and Harry have secured various media deals with major companies, reportedly including a staggering $100 million agreement with Netflix.
These ventures demonstrate their commitment to establishing themselves as influential figures in the entertainment industry.
