Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, despite being non-working members of the royal family, will continue to remain on the sidelines, according to a prominent royal commentator.
In the line of succession, Beatrice holds the 9th position, while her sister Eugenie is 11th.
Speculation had arisen that the York princesses might be considered as potential candidates to help fill the void left by working members of the royal family.
However, King Charles has opted for a more streamlined version of the monarchy, focusing primarily on the direct line of succession.
The move has not been without criticism, as Princess Anne, the King’s sister, publicly voiced her disapproval in 2023.
Nevertheless, royal commentator Michael Cole believes that the King will persist with his strategy, placing his trust in the Prince and Princess of Wales to take on leading roles within the royal firm.
In an interview with GB News, Cole stated that King Charles aims to concentrate on the direct line of succession, starting from himself and extending to Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
This is the approach he wishes to pursue.
As a result, it is challenging to envision significant roles for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, not because they lack willingness or are unfit for such positions.
On the contrary, they are regarded as amiable individuals and excellent ambassadors for the country.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, speaking to GB News, explained that due to their father Prince Andrew’s ongoing situation, Beatrice and Eugenie will not be considered as working royals.
The King’s deliberate intention is to focus on the main line of succession.
If this means there will be fewer royal appearances throughout the country and the Commonwealth, then so be it.
Fitzwilliams further suggested that Lady Louise Windsor, rather than Andrew’s daughters, is more likely to assume a working royal role.
This decision reflects the King’s determination to prioritize the direct line of succession and maintain a streamlined monarchy.
