Omid Scobie, known as Meghan Markle’s mouthpiece, recently made a subtle jab at Prince William and Princess Kate.
This came after pictures surfaced of the Sussexes attending the Bob Marley, One Love premiere in Jamaica.
The surprise appearance took place at the Carib Theatre in Kingston, the country’s capital, where they posed alongside Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife Juliet.
Taking to social media, Omid Scobie, the author of Endgame, shared a video of the premiere.
In the caption, he wrote, “A different vibe to the last time we saw Prime Minister Andrew Holness with members of the royal family.”
It appeared that he was referencing the royal visit to the Caribbean in March 2022, during which Prince William and Princess Kate visited Belize, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.
The tour undertaken by William and Kate was marred by complaints regarding the released images, which were seen as having colonial undertones.
One unfortunate shot in Jamaica showed the Walesers on one side of a chain fence greeting a group of children.
Furthermore, the couple met with Prime Minister Holness, raising eyebrows due to the politician’s scheduled referendum on Jamaica’s potential decision to sever ties with the British monarchy this year.
Although the Caribbean island became an independent country in 1962, it remains a member of the Commonwealth.
However, there has been speculation about its intention to remove King Charles as the head of state.
In 2021, Barbados, another Caribbean country, made the decision to remove Queen Elizabeth as their head of state and transition into a republic within the Commonwealth.
At the premiere, the Sussexes were all smiles.
Meghan looked stunning in a black spaghetti strap gown, complemented by gold earrings and a chic bun.
Harry was seen greeting and hugging Ziggy Marley, the son of Bob and Rita Marley, who produced the film set to be released in British cinemas on February 16.
The movie also features other British talents such as Kingsley Benedeer, Larsana Lynch, and James Norton.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Harry and Meghan have visited Jamaica.
Harry traveled there in 2012 as part of his Diamond Jubilee tour, and he later returned with Meghan to attend the wedding of Tom Skippy and Lara Hughes Young.
It is worth noting that Meghan’s first wedding to Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson in 2011 also took place in Jamaica, at the Ocho Rios resort.
The couple divorced in 2013, with the distance between them during Meghan’s filming of Suits in Toronto believed to be a contributing factor.
In conclusion, Omid Scobie’s comments comparing the royal tours of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with Prince William and Princess Kate have sparked interest and raised questions.
The controversy surrounding the images from the Caribbean tour and the potential decision by Jamaica to cut ties with the British monarchy add further intrigue to the story.
As the Sussexes continue to make public appearances, their connections to Jamaica and the symbolism behind their attendance at the Bob Marley premiere provide additional layers to explore.
