In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have caused a stir with their recent visit to Jamaica.
The couple attended the premiere of the new Bob Marley film, while Harry’s father prepared for prostate surgery and his sister-in-law recovered from abdominal surgery back in Britain.
As they arrived at the Carib Theatre in Kingston, all eyes were on them.
Posing for photos and exchanging handshakes with actors, Meghan and Harry seemed to be searching for a new champion after facing backlash from their Spotify and Netflix deals.
It was during this time that they also took a photo with Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife Juliet.
This deliberate act was seen as a revenge tactic against the royal family, as Holness has expressed his country’s desire to move away from the British monarchy.
Currently, King Charles holds the position of head of state in Jamaica.
However, the process to sever ties with the British monarchy is already underway, following in the footsteps of Barbados.
Just like the Irish country’s separation from the monarchy, Prince Harry himself stepped down from royal duties in 2020 and renounced his HRH titles.
This strategic move by the Sussexes was intended to provoke drama within the royal family.
During a Caribbean tour in 2020 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, Prince William and Catherine were warmly received in multiple stops.
However, protests against the monarchy took place in Jamaica, led by small groups.
Prime Minister Holness campaigned on the promise to hold a referendum to remove Queen Elizabeth as the head of state and establish a republic by 2025.
He later clarified that the country intended to cut ties with Britain after the Queen’s passing, but emphasized that the Waleses would always be welcome.
Unfortunately, this announcement provided an opportunity for anti-royalists to criticize William and Catherine, while also fueling the unfounded claims made by Meghan and Harry about discrimination within the royal family.
Additionally, some individuals misrepresented Britain’s role in ending the Atlantic slave trade.
It is worth mentioning that Meghan and Harry attempted to launch their Netflix docuseries, which included a distorted rendition of Queen Elizabeth’s historic 1947 speech.
This move was seen as an attempt to position themselves as spokespeople for countries they had no real connection or experience with.
Furthermore, it is perplexing how the couple continues to capitalize on their British royal titles, especially in non-Commonwealth countries like the United States and in nations such as Jamaica that strive for independence.
They even named their child after Queen Elizabeth II, the former monarch.
Despite providing no public service, they expect people of color taxpayers to fund their lifestyle through IPP benefits, all while monetizing their titles and airing their dirty laundry.
Their refusal to live within their means, residing in a lavish mansion and jet-setting around the world, contradicts their claims of being socially conscious.
The trip to Jamaica may have seemed innocuous at first, but it has ignited new tensions and further strained the relationship between Meghan, Harry, and the royal family.
As they continue to navigate their post-royal lives, it remains to be seen how their actions will impact their reputation and the monarchy as a whole.
