The Official Royal Family website has recently undergone multiple updates to address various errors found across its pages.
However, one area that continues to raise concerns is the profile of Prince Harry.
Despite efforts to rectify other inaccuracies, his profile still contains outdated information.
In August, the Daily Express reported that the website referred to Prince Harry as HRA and mistakenly identified the late Queen Elizabeth II as the reigning monarch on at least 74 occasions.
These errors were promptly corrected by the Royal Aids.
Surprisingly, despite these corrections, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s profile pages still contain outdated information.
The pages inaccurately state that the couple retains royal patronages, splits their time between the UK and North America, and resides at Frogmore Cottage.
Renowned royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams expressed concerns, stating that these errors create an impression of being out of touch and suggested that urgent updates are needed for their biographies.
A recent update to the Royal Family’s member pages showcases new pictures, including Princess Kate’s meeting with the Windrush-Simru elders and images of King Charles, Queen Camilla, and Prince William around the time of the coronation.
Notably, the order in which members appear now reflects their seniority within the royal ranks, with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew moved to the bottom.
Despite the removal of Harry’s HRA title, several inaccuracies persist on his profile page.
The statement at the top, dated January 2020, incorrectly suggests the couple’s continued duty to the King, the Commonwealth, and their patronages.
In reality, Harry and Meghan relinquished their roles as working members of the Royal Family in February 2021, with Buckingham Palace redistributing their military appointments and royal patronages.
Mr. Fitzwilliams emphasized the misleading nature of Meghan’s profile, highlighting her mention as patron of the National Theatre and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, roles she no longer holds.
The couple also lost their positions as President and Vice President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
Prince Harry’s biography page also contains errors regarding their official residence, Frogmore Cottage, as the couple moved out in June 2023.
Additional mistakes include outdated references to his brother and sister-in-law’s titles and incorrect information about the location of the next Invictus Games.
Buckingham Palace has been approached for comment, and a previous statement acknowledged ongoing updates to the vast website, which contains over 5,000 pages of information about the Royal Family’s life and work.
It is important to note that some content may remain outdated until the revisiting and updating process is complete.
The persistent inaccuracies on Prince Harry’s profile page have raised eyebrows among royal enthusiasts.
Many have expressed surprise at the lack of attention to detail and the need for immediate updates.
The website serves as a significant source of information for the public, and it is crucial that it reflects the most accurate and up-to-date details about the Royal Family.
