Meghan Markle was forced to miss a prestigious event in Los Angeles where her husband, Prince Harry, was honored as a living legend of aviation on Friday night.
The Duchess of Sussex found herself unable to attend due to one of their children falling ill.
While Prince Harry, aged 39, accepted his award from actor John Travolta at the Beverly Hills Hilton, Meghan, aged 42, was notably absent.
According to the PA News Agency, it has been revealed that Meghan had to miss the occasion as one of their children faced health issues.
The couple currently resides in Montecito, California, with their two children, 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet.
However, the specific child who fell ill was not disclosed.
Despite Meghan’s absence, Prince Harry appeared in high spirits as he took the stage alongside Prince Mario Max Schaumburg-Lipp, a 46-year-old minor German royal and cousin to the outgoing Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II.
The awards ceremony also saw the presence of other notable figures.
During his acceptance speech, Prince Harry mentioned his fondness for John Travolta, saying, “I was just a one-year-old when you danced with my mum at the White House, and now look at us.”
He added, “The only thing left to do is not dance together but fly together.”
Interestingly, Harry did not address the medical issues faced by his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Princess Kate, as both are set to undergo surgery.
Kensington Palace announced that Princess Kate was admitted to the hospital for planned abdominal surgery, while King Charles is scheduled for a prostate operation next week.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes that Harry is likely to reach out to his family, considering the sensitivities involved.
He stated, “Given the sensitivities involved, it is hoped some approach would be made by Harry, but the best thing, and the only thing, would be a quiet or private approach.”
As of now, no further updates have been provided regarding Meghan’s child’s health or her potential attendance at future events.
