Meghan Markle, the former royal family member, seems to still carry a penchant for royal treatment despite stepping away from her royal duties.
The Duchess of Sussex, alongside her husband Prince Harry, is gearing up to attend the upcoming Invictus Games in Vancouver Whistler.
However, reports have surfaced indicating that Meghan Markle made an extravagant request for their accommodation during the event, which was promptly shut down by the new CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation.
The luxurious lodging Meghan Markle had her eyes set on was none other than the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, a renowned five-star hotel known for its breathtaking views, spacious suites, and top-notch amenities.
This exclusive hotel, capable of hosting up to 550 guests, comes with a hefty price tag ranging from $500 to a staggering $10,000 per night.
Insisting on booking the entire hotel for privacy and security reasons, Meghan Markle turned a blind eye to any alternative options.
Taking the reins as the new CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation earlier this year, the unnamed CEO, described as a former military officer with a pragmatic approach, firmly rejected Meghan Markle’s demands.
He deemed her request as unreasonable and out of touch with the foundation’s limited budget, emphasizing that the essence of the Invictus Games lies in honoring wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans who participate in the event.
Meghan Markle’s purported reaction to the CEO’s refusal was one of indignation, feeling slighted and disrespected.
Allegedly perceiving the CEO’s actions as driven by jealousy towards her and Prince Harry, she even went as far as threatening to withdraw from the event and tarnish the reputation of the Invictus Games Foundation using her influence and connections.
Caught in the middle of the escalating conflict between his wife and his former colleague, Prince Harry attempted to mediate the situation.
Despite his efforts to reconcile both parties, he ultimately sided with Meghan Markle, expressing his disappointment with the CEO’s decision.
Prince Harry conveyed their intention to attend the Invictus Games while arranging their own accommodation separately.
However, the CEO stood firm in his decision, reiterating that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would need to adhere to the same rules and guidelines as other participants.
He emphasized the importance of not letting personal matters interfere with the support for the Invictus Games and its participants, underscoring the event’s significance beyond the couple’s personal preferences.
Scheduled to take place from February 14 to February 16, 2025, in Vancouver Whistler, the upcoming Invictus Games will mark Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to Canada since their relocation to California in 2020.
Canada holds a special place in the couple’s hearts, having spent significant moments there, including their first holiday season as a family of three on Vancouver Island in 2019 and their public debut as a couple at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
As they prepare for their upcoming visit to Canada, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might find themselves facing repercussions from their contentious demand and the frosty reception from the new CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation.
