According to a royal expert, the divide between the two brothers is unlikely to heal.
Details about Prince Harry’s strained relationship with his brother were revealed in his book, “Spare.”
In it, the Duke of Sussex alleges that two months before he and Meghan Markle left the Royal Family, the Prince of Wales physically assaulted him during a heated argument, leaving him battered and bruised.
Over the years, the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has soured.
While Harry used to be his older brother’s trusted companion, they are now expected to steer clear of any royal events scheduled for September, including the commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II.
On the day following Her Majesty’s passing, the Sussexes are set to be in Europe for the Invictus Games.
However, according to sources close to the royal family, they will not be joining the rest of the firm in mourning the late monarch next month, as reported by Daily Record.
The service on September 8 at Balmoral is expected to be attended by King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Jenny Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent who shares Prince Charles’ hope for reconciliation between the estranged brothers, believes that it is unlikely for Charles to maintain regular contact with Harry.
She stated her opinion during an interview with GB News, saying, “We all say, oh, time will heal everything.
I believe the wound won’t mend in this instance.”
Bond further expressed her belief that the rest of the family has moved on, with William and Harry’s relationship irreparably damaged.
She added, “It’s just a fact now that they don’t talk.
They don’t intend to talk, the two families maintain their separate lives, and I believe that will remain the case going forward.”
However, Bond does hold out hope for Prince Charles, saying, “I personally hope that Charles finds a way to contact his son and keeps saying he wants to see him.
But I don’t think Harry is making it simple.”
The journalist emphasized that while there is undoubtedly great sadness within the family, such conflicts are not uncommon.
She stated, “Families go through things like this, don’t they?
It’s evident, in my opinion, that the vast majority of people in this nation believe that Harry and Meghan are probably better off where they are.”
