In a recent announcement from Buckingham Palace, it has been revealed that Kate Middleton is set to take on the prestigious role of Colonel of the Irish Guards, a position previously held by her husband, Prince William.
Additionally, the Palace disclosed that the highly anticipated King’s Birthday Parade, famously known as Trooping the Colour, is scheduled to take place on June 17 in central London.
During the grand display, the King and the Prince of Wales will make a striking appearance on horseback, while other members of the royal family, including the Princess of Wales and the Queen Consort, will observe the spectacle from carriages and the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony.
Notably, three family members have been appointed Colonels within the Foot Guards, with Camilla assuming the role of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a position previously occupied by Prince Andrew before he was stripped of his royal titles.
Moreover, the transition of roles continues as William is set to inherit the title of Colonel of the Welsh Guards from his father.
The Palace emphasized that there will be no changes to the existing Colonels of the other regiments within the Household Division, maintaining continuity within the royal ranks.
Trooping the Colour, a time-honored tradition that has symbolized the monarch’s official birthday for over 260 years, is eagerly awaited in 2023 as it will mark King Charles’ inaugural appearance at the event following his coronation on May 6.
The parade is a grand spectacle featuring over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 majestic horses, and 400 talented musicians, showcasing military precision, horsemanship, and musical fanfare.
The procession commences at Buckingham Palace, proceeding down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade, culminating in a magnificent Royal Air Force flypast.
The event is a testament to the royal family’s enduring traditions and the public’s unwavering fascination with their ceremonial affairs.
