Political commentator and author Ben Shapiro didn’t hold back in his criticism of Prince Harry, accusing him of self-delusion and arrogance following the release of his memoir, Spare.
Shapiro expressed his views on the Duke of Sussex’s actions, stating that by divulging royal family secrets, Harry had essentially squandered his worth and was left with little else but to make a lot of noise.
In a candid interview with Piers Morgan on Sky News Australia, Shapiro took aim at Harry and Meghan Markle, highlighting what he perceived as their belief in being untouchable.
He remarked on their hypersensitivity, noting that any slight against them would result in hurt feelings and indignation.
Despite Harry’s desire for privacy, Shapiro pointed out the irony of his detailed recollections of specific skincare products.
Recent months have been eventful for the royal couple, with the publication of Harry’s memoir, Meghan’s podcast Archetypes, and the debut of their Netflix documentary series, Harry & Meghan.
However, Shapiro cast doubt on the future prospects of the pair, given the wave of accusations leveled against the royal family.
He pondered the futility of their position once they had eroded their primary asset – insider knowledge of the monarchy.
The aftermath of the release of Spare has not been favorable for Harry and Meghan, as evidenced by a significant decline in their popularity, particularly in the United States.
A recent poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton for Newsweek on February 19th revealed that Harry’s approval ratings hit an all-time low, with only 32% of respondents expressing favorability towards him, compared to 42% who held a negative view.
This marked a notable decrease from his previous rating of minus 7 in January to minus 10 last week, signifying a sharp drop since December when he enjoyed a positive rating of plus 38.
Meghan faced even harsher criticism, with a mere 27% of Americans expressing a favorable opinion of her, while 44% held unfavorable views, resulting in a net approval rating of minus 17 as of February 19th.
Shapiro noted the public’s reaction to the Sussexes’ declining popularity, finding it reassuring in light of recent events.
The couple’s public image took another hit when they became the subject of ridicule in a recent episode of South Park titled “Worldwide Privacy Tour.”
