A former Buckingham Palace employee, Lady Susan Hussey, who recently resigned after making racist comments, had allegedly foreseen the downfall of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship.
Lady Hussey, a trusted aide to Queen Elizabeth and Prince William’s godmother, was quoted in Tom Bower’s 2022 biography, “Revenge, Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors.”
During a lunch with theatre producers and directors in 2017, she reportedly remarked that “it will all end in tears” regarding Markle, indicating a pessimistic view of the couple’s future.
Bower’s biography also mentioned that Lady Hussey was specifically chosen by Queen Elizabeth to assist Markle in adjusting to royal life.
Despite some individuals denouncing Bower’s portrayal of Markle in the book, he publicly criticized the Duchess of Sussex in a July interview, alleging that she was causing harm to Britain.
However, Buckingham Palace did not respond to Hussey’s account as she transitioned to a new role as a Lady of the Household, maintaining her position within the royal family.
The newly created position of Lady of the Household replaces the traditional role of ladies-in-waiting, which are honorary positions held by aristocratic women serving as personal attendants to royal family members.
Lady Hussey, referred to as the palace’s top figure and a key confidant of the Queen, was recognized in Tatler as a trusted aide in the later years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Despite her esteemed status, Hussey tendered her resignation shortly after her new appointment was announced.
In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, Lady Hussey expressed deep regret for her inappropriate remarks and offered sincere apologies for any distress caused.
Her resignation followed allegations made by Ngozi Fulani, leader of UK charity Sister Space, who claimed to have faced discrimination regarding her nationality at an event attended by Camilla, the Queen consort.
Fulani’s initial tweet did not disclose Lady Hussey’s full name but hinted at the incident involving her.
Confirming Lady Hussey’s resignation, the palace assured that Fulani would be given the opportunity to share her experience in person if she wished to do so.
Requests for comments from various parties involved, including Bower, the Sussexes, and Fulani, were not immediately responded to.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the upcoming Earthshot Prize award ceremony in Boston, where the Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to make an appearance.
At a recent basketball game in Boston, a devoted royal fan, known as Royal Tea on social media, had the chance to meet Kate Middleton and Prince William in person.
Expressing her excitement, the fan shared that meeting the future king and queen consort was a dream come true, especially since they rarely visit the US.
Despite facing challenges like heavy traffic and rain, the royal enthusiast’s encounter with the royal couple was a memorable experience that she never thought possible.
