Former Law Minister Zayed Ibrahim expressed his views on the recent dispute between Dr. Akmal Saleh and UMNO Youth Chief Tajuddin Rasti from UCSR University.
The controversy arose when Tajuddin claimed to be defending Islam in response to the issue regarding socks bearing the word Allah.
Zayed condemned Tajuddin’s stance, stating that it was unimaginable for Islam and Allah to require defense.
Tajuddin had previously accused Akmal of being a bully for advocating a boycott of KK Mart due to the sale of the controversial socks.
Additionally, he cast doubt on Akmal’s willingness to confront the Chinese ambassador following Tuaran MP Wilfred Mattius Tangau’s challenge to demand an apology from China for allowing the production of the socks.
In light of these events, Zayed recommended that Akmal, as a leader of UMNO, focus on advocating for the economically disadvantaged Malays instead.
He proposed that one effective approach would be to advocate for a Malay individual with strategic planning expertise to head the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
