Princess Anne, also known as the Princess Royal, has made royal history by joining King Charles III for the vigil of Queen Elizabeth’s coffin.
As part of Operation Unicorn following the Queen’s passing, Princess Anne, along with Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, gathered at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland to pay their respects.
This marked a significant moment as Princess Anne became the first female royal to participate in the vigil, elegantly bowing her head and performing a deep curtsy for her late mother.
The gesture held particular significance as it mirrored Queen Elizabeth II’s respectful bow during Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997.
It was an emotional sight to witness Princess Anne and Sophie Wessex, the Countess of Wessex, curtsying as the Queen’s coffin was carried into Edinburgh Palace.
The Countess provided comfort to the Princess Royal by rubbing her back, a touching act that did not go unnoticed by royal fans.
Twitter users expressed their appreciation for the support shown between the two royals.
Love Family Wales tweeted, “How thoughtful of the Countess to do that.
Princess Anne needs a lot of comfort.”
Similarly, hawk3y gun3y3 added, “A nice touch from Sophie to Anne that will mean a lot at this time, togetherness and support for each other.”
atrich7 commented, “Princess Royal is known to be rather stoic, it shows how much she’s feeling the sadness and respect for her to curtsy so deeply, and wonderful that the Countess of Wessex reaches out to comfort her.”
In other news, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be permitted to wear his military uniform during the Queen’s final vigil.
However, Princess Anne, as per royal protocol, can wear military attire for five ceremonial events.
Sources within the royal family have revealed that there is a possibility of Prince William and Prince Harry walking side by side at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
An insider stated, “We’re certainly not in the same place as Philip’s funeral when William and Harry didn’t walk side by side.
Things haven’t changed, but it’s not as intense and they can coexist.
But the flower visit really doesn’t change anything.
It’s the same situation as at Prince Philip’s funeral when William and Harry put their differences aside and supported each other and their families in that moment.”
With the recent ascension of King Charles, there may be a shift in dynamics within the royal family.
King Charles is reportedly determined to address the ongoing issues involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
A source revealed, “The only way he’s going to stop them being a problem is to give in, which it looks like he’s going to do.
Charles’ opinion is it’s better to have them inside the royal tent rather than outside the tent.
This is the new king’s decision and his alone.
He’s not consulted William or Catherine.”
The insider further shared that while most members of the family and the palace may not agree with this approach, Charles sees it as an opportunity to assert his independence and protect the monarchy.
Additionally, it is believed that Harry and Meghan’s presence would be beneficial in representing the royal family overseas.
As negotiations continue, one condition for this potential resolution is that Harry’s upcoming book must be shelved in order to move forward.
The book’s disappearance is seen as crucial to achieving a harmonious outcome.
