Prince Harry’s visa to the United States may be in jeopardy after his confession of drug use during a therapy session.
Renowned therapist Dr. Gaber Mate interviewed Prince Harry for his program “The Myth of Normal: Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture.”
In the interview, Prince Harry revealed that he turned to psychedelic drugs as a way to cope with his trauma.
However, Piers Morgan, a prominent TV personality, warned that U.S. authorities frown upon drug use by non-U.S. citizens, which could affect Prince Harry’s planned visit to the U.S.
During the interview, Prince Harry discussed his experience with drugs, stating, “I started doing it recreationally and then started realizing how fantastic it was for me.
I’d say it’s one of the essential things that happened in my life that changed me and gave me the ability to cope with the hurts and traumas from the past.”
Morgan, referring to Prince Harry’s recent memoir tour where he criticized his own family, expressed concern that Prince Harry might have decided to share too much.
Morgan suggested that Prince Harry’s admission could potentially lead to him missing his father’s coronation on May 6th to avoid being denied entry into the United States.
Morgan cited the case of TV chef Nigella Lawson, who was prohibited from traveling to the U.S. in 2014 after confessing to consuming cocaine during a trial.
He argued that this could be used as a precedent against allowing Prince Harry to attend the king’s coronation.
The U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services state that visa applicants proven to be drug abusers or addicts are considered inadmissible to the U.S.
However, changes in regulations in 2010 mean that border agents no longer have to consider experimental drug use when evaluating visa requests.
Senior attorney Karnag Dikmajian explained that admission of violating U.S. or foreign laws related to controlled narcotics makes one inadmissible to the U.S.
He mentioned the case of British citizen Isabella Brazier-Jones, who was denied entry due to a two-year-old message about cocaine found on her phone.
Dikmajian emphasized that American officials have become stricter regarding admitting individuals with a history of drug use.
Even a simple admission of possessing a controlled substance can prevent entry.
However, the authorities are expected to follow legal standards when making these decisions.
Since moving to California with his wife Meghan Markle in March 2020, Prince Harry has been a resident of the United States.
The couple and their two children have settled in Montecito, a suburb of Santa Barbara.
Recently, they received an invitation to the king’s coronation in London on May 6th.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan have not confirmed their attendance yet.
In other news, Prince Louis, the youngest child of Kate Middleton and Prince William, is known to enjoy spending time outdoors.
After school, he often requests that his mother takes him to a playground.
Prince Louis is said to have a close friendship with Meghan Markle since childhood.
As Prince Harry faces potential consequences for his drug admission, his plans to visit the United States and attend his father’s coronation remain uncertain.
The impact of his confession on his future remains to be seen.
