Exciting times are ahead for the royal family as they eagerly await the arrival of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child.
The Queen’s granddaughter is expected to give birth in early 2021, which means the new addition could join the world at any moment.
This little bundle of joy will become the eleventh in line to the throne, joining the ranks of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and even Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie.
However, with the arrival of the new royal baby, some reshuffling in the line of succession is inevitable.
Prince Edward, currently twelfth in line, will be pushed down to the thirteenth spot.
Similarly, his children James and Louise will find themselves in the fourteenth and fifteenth positions, respectively.
Even Princess Anne, a working royal and an integral part of the Queen’s senior team, will move down from fourteenth to fifteenth in line to the throne.
Next in line after Prince Edward is Princess Anne’s eldest son, Peter, followed by his children Savannah and Isla Phillips.
Zara Tindall, who is also pregnant, will slide from eighteenth to nineteenth in line, and her children will also be moved down a spot.
However, it is unlikely that Zara will be fazed by this change, as she has always embraced her less senior royal status with gratitude.
Princess Anne had foreseen that her children would have lower positions in the line of succession.
Consequently, she made the decision not to grant them HRH titles, allowing them to lead more ordinary lives.
In a 2015 interview with The Times, Princess Anne expressed her appreciation for her parents’ choice, saying, “I’m very lucky that both my parents decided not to use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do.”
By not holding HRH titles, Princess Anne’s children are not entitled to financial support from the royal funds.
This has given them the freedom to earn their own money and pursue their own endeavors.
