The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, made her debut as the Colonel of the Irish Guards on St Patrick’s Day, following in the footsteps of her husband, Prince William.
Arriving at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Kate was ready to take part in the annual St Patrick’s Day parade.
As part of her new role, Kate had the honor of presenting the Irish Wolfhound Regimental Mascot with sprigs of shamrock, a customary tradition.
These sprigs were then distributed to officers and guardsmen along the ranks.
Kate has always embraced the tradition of wearing green for St Patrick’s Day since joining the Royal Family in 2011, and today was no exception.
She looked stunning in a bright turquoise coat dress, paying tribute to Ireland’s National Saint.
The eye-catching coat dress, designed by Catherine Walker, featured a high collar and buttons running down the bodice.
To complete her outfit, Kate wore a matching fascinator by Jane Taylor, priced at a whopping £1,450.
As a final touch, she adorned her coat with a delicate gold shamrock-shaped brooch, pinned to the left lapel.
Her hair was styled straight and tucked behind her ears, while her makeup remained simple with black mascara and a light pink lipstick.
Following the parade, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had the opportunity to meet with the Irish Guards Association, which consists of former members of the Irish Guards.
During this meeting, Kate was invited to inspect the front rank, while William inspected the second rank.
The royal couple also took the time to interact with members of the regiment and posed for official photographs.
To conclude their visit, William and Kate visited the junior ranks dining hall, where the senior guardsmen proposed a toast to the couple.
This was a special moment for the Duke and Duchess, as they were able to connect with the dedicated individuals who serve in the battalion.
