Prince Harry’s memoir, titled “Spare,” has taken the publishing world by storm, breaking sales records and causing a stir within the royal family.
However, amidst all the shocking claims made in the book, questions arise about its reliability.
One particular incident mentioned in the memoir involves Meghan Markle’s visit to a Whole Foods supermarket in London back in November 2016, shortly after their relationship became public knowledge.
According to Prince Harry, Meghan walked from Kensington Palace to the nearby Whole Foods, where she joined the queue at the checkouts.
As she waited, she noticed rows of magazines and newspapers with shocking and disgusting headlines featuring her own picture.
The prince claims that other customers in the store also took notice, looking at the magazines, then at Meghan, and subsequently pulling out their phones.
The situation, if true, would undoubtedly be dramatic and distressing for anyone.
However, it seems that only one person recognized Meghan—a journalist.
Contrary to Prince Harry’s account, on the specific day in question, Meghan did not appear on any front page headlines.
Moreover, Whole Foods does not even sell newspapers, so the likelihood of her encountering such headlines in the supermarket is questionable.
It is insulting to assume that no one else had ever shopped at Whole Foods and seen the magazines they carry.
In reality, the store primarily stocks specialist lifestyle publications.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that Whole Foods is located below the Daily Mail head office on Kensington High Street.
Meghan walked up and down the street for an hour, wearing wellies and Harry’s brown cap, until someone finally took pity on her and snapped a photo.
There was no chase or harassment involved.
On that particular day, all the headlines were focused on Donald Trump, not Meghan Markle.
All she needed was an official statement from Prince Harry to confirm their relationship, but such an announcement was not forthcoming.
Consequently, Meghan decided to play the victim of intrusive cameras, knowing well that it was Prince Harry’s vulnerable point.
By fabricating stories about supermarket zombies and police reports, she achieved her goal of obtaining an official statement from the prince, urging people to leave her alone.
In Tom Power’s book, he also mentions how Meghan disregarded staff instructions to use the side entrance instead of the front entrance for this very reason.
Discussing Meghan’s blatant lie, one person commented, “It doesn’t look like the kind of place or area where people would act as she described.
If it did happen, someone would have surely posted or sent pictures to the press.
Even Catherine and her adorable children managed to go shopping without any such incidents.
At the time, many people, including myself, had never even heard of Meghan Markle.
There are countless very famous celebrities that I wouldn’t recognize in public.
The whole incident doesn’t seem to align with her description.”
Another individual, who worked at a Whole Foods store in a non-celebrity-centric city in the US, expressed skepticism, stating, “I call bullshit for another reason.
Celebrities of all kinds shop frequently, and going to Whole Foods simply isn’t a big deal.”
