The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a nostalgic visit to the University of St. Andrews, where they first met as students 20 years ago.
Prince William and Kate Middleton engaged with current students, sharing their own experiences during the pandemic.
The couple also took the opportunity to revisit St. Salvatore’s, the halls of residence where their friendship blossomed into something more.
Their journey began when they crossed paths during their first year at university.
However, it was a charity fashion show that truly caught Prince William’s attention.
As he watched a young Kate confidently strut down the catwalk in a sheer dress, romance began to bloom.
In 2005, the couple graduated, and five years later, William proposed.
This year, they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, and now have three children together: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
During their visit, both William and Kate appeared in high spirits as they strolled through the university grounds, reminiscing about their time as students.
Despite the rain, the couple engaged in cheerful conversations and shared laughter while carrying umbrellas.
Kate showcased her impeccable style, donning a smart £650 striped Urdum jumper, a £549 Jade Holland Cooper blazer, and £90 Veja trainers.
Earlier in the day, she had sported a £159 Barber jacket and See By Chloe boots while racing land yachts.
To complete her look, the Duchess let down her ponytail, applied a touch of makeup, and replaced her gold hoop earrings with a more ornate pair from Freya Rose.
At St. Salvatore’s lawn, the Duke and Duchess joined students studying Geography and History of Art, the courses pursued by William and Kate, respectively.
They gathered to learn more about the Can Do scheme, a collaborative initiative between the university and the St. Andrews Students Association.
The scheme aims to provide opportunities for students to plan and host Covid-secure extracurricular activities and society events.
The Can Do marquee, where these events take place, has already hosted over 500 diverse activities since its launch, serving as a crucial morale booster for students on campus.
Additionally, William and Kate participated in an interfaith discussion with students from the School of Divinity, various interfaith groups on campus, and the university chaplain.
This dialogue allowed the royal couple to gain insight into how the university encourages interfaith conversations and understanding among its students.
