The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, recently engaged in a heartwarming conversation with finalists of her Hold Still Community photography project.
The call, which took place in autumn 2020, was shared on Prince William and Kate’s new YouTube channel ahead of the book release on Friday.
One of the touching moments during the call involved Linda Sneddon and her four-year-old daughter, Mila.
Mila’s photograph had been selected as part of the project.
The Sneddon family had faced a difficult decision to isolate Mila from her father, Scott, and big sister, Jodie, due to Mila’s ongoing chemotherapy treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
In the moving image submitted by Linda, Mila could be seen kissing the window while her father stood outside.
The photograph captured the emotional toll the separation had on the family.
During the call, Mila asked the Duchess if she had a costume.
Kate replied that she wasn’t wearing a princess costume at the moment but inquired if Mila had many dressing up outfits herself.
Mila excitedly responded, revealing that her favorite color was pink.
The Duchess then made a sweet promise to the little girl.
She vowed to find herself a pink dress so that when they eventually meet, she would wear it for Mila.
The heartfelt exchange left both Mila and her mother touched by Kate’s genuine warmth and kindness.
Hold Still was launched by Kate in May 2020, inviting people of all ages across the UK to submit photographs taken during the lockdown.
The aim was to capture and document the nation’s spirit, mood, hopes, fears, and feelings during that challenging time.
To coincide with the announcement of the Hold Still book, Kensington Palace released a stunning new portrait of Kate in March.
