A heartwarming surprise unfolded at St Michael’s Church of England High School in Rowley Regis, Sandwell, as 12-year-old Freddie Hadley received an unexpected visit from none other than the Prince of Wales himself.
The young boy’s day took a thrilling turn when Prince William made a surprise appearance at his school after being touched by a letter Freddie had posted on social media last year.
In the letter, Freddie shared with the Royal Family the incredible work he and his friends were doing to promote mental health awareness within their school community.
Last October, on World Mental Health Day, Freddie took to social media, specifically ex (formerly known as Twitter), to express his admiration for the mental health initiatives at St Michael’s.
Little did he know that his message would reach Prince William, who personally responded with a heartfelt letter commending Freddie and his peers for their dedication to addressing mental health challenges.
In his response, Prince William expressed regret for not being able to join them at the time but encouraged them to persevere in their essential work.
The impact of Freddie’s letter on the Prince of Wales was profound, prompting him to arrange a surprise visit to the school during his recent public engagements in the West Midlands.
Today, amidst cheers and excitement, Prince William arrived unannounced at St Michael’s, marking his first Royal Away Day since the public disclosure of the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis and treatment.
