The Prince and Princess of Wales have extended their warmest regards to those commemorating St David’s Day.
In a rare gesture, Kensington Palace shared a message from the royal duo on Twitter, expressing their pride in being patrons of both the Welsh Guards and the Queen’s Dragoon Guards.
The message, conveyed in English and Welsh, simply stated, “Happy St David’s Day.”
This announcement follows recent speculations surrounding the Princess of Wales’ well-being, which were swiftly dismissed by Kensington Palace.
A spokesperson for Kate emphasized that clarity had been provided from the outset, confirming that the Princess would be absent until post-Easter, with updates reserved for significant developments.
During last year’s parade, Prince William distributed letters to the officers and guards, a customary practice observed throughout the ranks.
The event culminated in a march past, during which His Royal Highness offered the Royal Salute.
Notably, this marked Prince William’s inaugural celebration of St David’s Day following his appointment as Colonel of the Welsh Guards in December 2022.
Addressing the Welsh Guards, Prince William paid tribute to his father, the former Prince of Wales, expressing his gratitude for assuming the role of their new Colonel.
Reflecting on cherished memories, William reminisced about his time with the Welsh Guards sniper platoon at Salisbury Plain, deeming it among his most treasured experiences.
Furthermore, Prince William recounted another significant moment shared with the Welsh Guards in the jungles of Belize, where he received his A-level results over Bowman Radio, marking a pivotal milestone in his life.
The Prince fondly recalled the enduring bond forged with the Guards, underscoring the profound impact they had on his formative years.
