The late Queen’s legacy lives on as the Princess of Wales, Kate, continues to honor her memory.
Today, she attended a lunch at Buckingham Palace alongside members of the Royal Family, wearing Her Majesty’s pearl earrings.
As is tradition following the Queen’s death on September 8, Kate, 40, donned an entirely black ensemble and is expected to do so until the end of the mourning period on September 26.
For the lunch event, Kate opted for a custom ankle-length dress, exuding elegance and grace.
The gathering served as an opportunity for the Royal Family to meet dignitaries from the Commonwealth in preparation for tomorrow’s highly anticipated reception.
This grand occasion will bring together 500 world leaders, presidents, and royals at the palace.
Kate’s hair flowed down naturally, complementing her outfit, while she completed the look with a pair of stunning suede heels worth £520.
In addition to paying homage to the late Queen, Kate also wore a set of the Queen’s pearl and diamond earrings, demonstrating her deep respect for her husband’s late grandmother.
Although she has previously worn these jewels, this week she made a special effort to showcase them repeatedly, including during the Queen’s coffin reception at Buckingham Palace and when meeting mourners in Sandringham.
On Friday, Kate also wore the glittering earrings during a visit to an army training center in Surrey, where she greeted soldiers participating in the procession for the Queen’s funeral on Monday morning.
During today’s lunch, Kate was seen exchanging smiles with Camilla, who held a drink with a slice of lemon.
The Princess, adorned with a long three-strand pearl necklace and matching bracelet, engaged in conversation with Saint Lucia Governor-General Cyril Errol Melchiodes Charles, placing her hand gently on his arm.
Notable figures present at the event included Governors-General from Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu.
As the event concluded, Edward and the Countess of Wessex Sophie departed, receiving cheers from the waiting crowds.
They took a moment to chat with well-wishers, with Edward inquiring about their origins and whether they were heading to Green Park to lay flowers.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Edward stated, “I know that my mother would really appreciate this fantastic support.”
Meanwhile, Sophie received bouquets and a stuffed toy, pausing to admire a young girl’s T-shirt adorned with photos of the Queen throughout her reign.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex also took the opportunity to meet members of the public standing behind barriers on the edge of Green Park.
In a surprising move, Charles and his son William delighted hundreds of eager mourners waiting to pay their respects to the Queen lying in state by embarking on an impromptu walkabout.
They expressed their gratitude to emergency service staff for their efforts during the mourning period leading up to the state funeral on Monday.
Along the South Bank near Lambeth, South London, where people lined up for 14 hours to catch a glimpse of the Queen’s coffin at the Palace of Westminster, cheers and applause erupted as Charles and William emerged.
Shouts of “hip hip hooray” and “God save the King” filled the air as the royals passed by.
