The birth of Archie, the first child of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, caused a stir among the press, with a royal photographer expressing discontent.
Breaking away from tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose not to partake in the customary photo session on the steps of London’s Portland Hospital after Archie’s arrival on May 6, 2019.
Instead, it was two days later when photographers were finally able to capture a glimpse of the newborn during a photo call at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Hall.
In an interview with the Suns Royal Exclusive, British photographer Arthur Edwards, renowned for his royal captures spanning over a decade, criticized the couple for orchestrating Archie’s birth to align with their preferences rather than adhering to the established postpartum customs believed to have originated with Princess Anne in the 1980s.
Edwards remarked that the entire event seemed meticulously planned to suit Meghan and Harry, highlighting discrepancies in the information provided to the press regarding the timing of the birth.
Initially planning for a home birth at Frogmore Cottage with an all-female midwife team, Meghan was advised by doctors to proceed to the hospital when Archie was overdue by a week.
Speculation has arisen on Twitter suggesting that Archie and his sister Lilibet might not be genuine, with some proposing the idea that other mothers are lending their children for photo opportunities.
A YouTube video, amassing over 77,000 views, has fueled the theory that Archie could potentially be a lifelike doll.
On the Daily Empress channel, a video titled “Megan Markle’s Fake Baby Exposed” has garnered significant attention, pointing out resemblances to doll-like features as supposed evidence.
Concerns were raised as baby Archie appeared motionless in Prince Harry’s arms during the public appearance, leading to suspicions of a potential hoax.
Many observers noted stark differences between the introduction of the Waleses’ newborns and Meghan and Harry’s presentation of Archie.
While the Waleses’ babies were visibly active and their parents appeared at ease, Archie seemed inert, with Meghan displaying discomfort and Harry holding him tightly.
This contrast further fueled doubts regarding the authenticity of the situation, with viewers questioning the typical behavior of newborns and highlighting discrepancies in Archie’s perceived age.
The speculation surrounding Archie’s birth was exacerbated by a comment made by Prince Harry during an interview, where his response to a question about Archie’s appearance was interpreted by some as inadvertently revealing the infant’s true age.
Harry’s diplomatic reply, emphasizing the rapid changes in babies’ features and the challenge of identifying resemblance early on, only added fuel to the fire of uncertainty surrounding the controversy.
