A recent development unveils that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reached out to Princess Catherine, who is courageously battling cancer, despite their strained relationship with the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Following the birth of their son Archie in the United States and their decision to step back from their royal duties in 2020, the dynamics between the Sussexes and the royal family took a drastic turn.
Reportedly, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now inclined towards reconciling with their British relatives, as per insights shared by a source close to the royal circle.
The source emphasized the Duchess’s heightened concern for Catherine’s well-being, while the Duchess herself is keen on fostering a more harmonious environment, believing that portraying a royal figure of support could aid in this endeavor.
Despite the existing tensions, the Duchess of Sussex empathizes deeply with Catherine, acknowledging the immense challenges she faces.
Expressing a strong desire to move past the animosity and embark on a journey towards healing, she has made it clear that her primary focus is on fostering positivity and unity within the family.
Notably, the Sussexes have previously made jests at the expense of the Wales, notably during a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 and through the Duke’s autobiography, ‘Spare,’ released in January 2023.
Meanwhile, the news of Catherine’s cancer diagnosis at the age of 42 in March 2024 prompted the Duke to promptly return to the UK to be by his father, the King’s side, following the public announcement of the diagnosis by Buckingham Palace.
Despite Catherine’s ongoing battle with cancer, the Duke and Duchess have refrained from visiting her, a decision that has raised eyebrows given the recent public appearance she made at Trooping the Colour, where she was joined by the Prince of Wales and their three children, marking her first outing since her diagnosis.
The entire royal family, including the King and Queen Camilla, gathered for the balcony appearance, underscoring a sense of unity amidst personal struggles.
While the Wales’ stance on reconciling with the Sussexes remains undisclosed, the Duke has expressed his commitment to frequent visits to the UK to spend time with his family, particularly after his trip in February 2024.
However, logistical challenges prevented him from meeting the Queen and his estranged brother, the Prince of Wales, during their May visit for the Invictus Games.
