Meghan Markle, alongside her husband Prince Harry, has found herself at the center of a heated controversy following the release of their bombshell documentary series on Netflix.
The couple’s six-part program has been met with mixed reactions, with some accusing Meghan of putting on an acting display rather than sharing genuine experiences.
Nile Gardner, a Washington-based foreign policy expert and royal family enthusiast, has criticized Meghan for what he believes is an exhibition of her acting skills throughout the interviews featured in the series.
Garner stated, “This documentary series has very much been the Meghan Markle show.
She’s literally acting throughout all of the interviews she’s shown doing.
Prince Harry is the best supporting actor to Meghan’s starring role.
What we’ve really seen is Hollywood fiction, with Meghan running for Best Actress.”
Gardner further expressed his concerns about the couple’s allegations against the royal family, comparing them to the media’s version of a cruise missile.
He believes that Meghan and Harry have become detached from reality and isolated from the real world, launching a relentless media assault against the royal family.
As a result, Gardner argues that relations with both Buckingham Palace and the British public have been severely damaged.
“This is a bridge too far for Meghan and Harry with the royal family.
There’s no turning back now from their latest vicious attacks,” Gardner concluded.
“They’ve spectacularly burnt whatever bridges remain with Buckingham Palace, but significantly they’ve completely destroyed any remaining goodwill there may have been amongst the British people.”
Meanwhile, the nominees for the 80th annual Golden Globe Awards have been announced, leaving Meghan disappointed that she wasn’t nominated for Best Actress.
Her portrayal of a victim of the royal family was considered by many as her crowning achievement of the year.
Reports suggest that Meghan is considering a return to acting in order to improve her reputation and potentially even secure an Oscar.
According to Closer UK, Markle sees acting as an avenue where she can receive praise amidst the backlash she and Prince Harry have faced due to their recent projects.
Acting suddenly appears to be a more appealing option for Meghan, as she believes her talent lies in this field.
The source added, “She thinks that with the right part, she could really make a splash and boost her brand by reminding people what a screen presence she has and make herself popular again.”
However, it seems that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing challenges in their pursuit of Hollywood success.
Welsh journalist Cara Kennedy suggests that charisma, dedication, and charm are essential attributes for becoming a Hollywood power couple, qualities she believes the Sussexes lack.
Kennedy claims that the couple, who relocated to California after stepping down as working royals, are slowly being excluded from Hollywood events and red carpet appearances.
Kennedy quoted Hollywood columnist Perez Hilton, who stated, “They’re not our royals.
We don’t have any allegiance to them.
We don’t have any reverence for them.
We won’t curtsy in front of them.
To us, they’re just celebrities.”
Kennedy added, “That’s the problem with mixing monarchy with celebrity.
The two worlds overlap, but they’re not the same.
Meghan and Harry claim to have one foot in both.
Increasingly, they aren’t welcome at either.”
As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry continue to navigate their new lives away from the royal family, their actions and aspirations continue to draw attention and criticism.
