Carol and Michael Middleton, the parents of Princess Kate Middleton, were seen in public for the first time since their daughter’s cancer diagnosis.
The couple, Carol aged 69 and Michael aged 74, graced Day 2 of Royal Ascot at the Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, England on Wednesday.
They exuded joy as they arrived together at the prestigious horse racing event, with Carol stunning in a blue floral self-portrait dress, a matching fascinator, and earrings from Emily Mortimer Jewelry.
Notable members of the Royal Family present at the event included Prince William, Kate’s husband, Queen Camilla, Princess Eugenie, and Zara and Mike Tindall.
Camilla, 76, had also attended Day 1 of the event, arriving in a carriage alongside King Charles as part of the Royal Procession.
This appearance by Carol and Michael Middleton follows Princess Kate’s recent public appearance at Trooping the Colour on June 15, marking their return to the public eye after a significant period.
The Middleton couple’s previous public outing was back in December when they attended the Royal Carols event at Westminster Abbey in London.
However, the dynamics shifted dramatically when Princess Kate disclosed her cancer diagnosis on March 22 and commenced chemotherapy treatment.
Her revelation came through a heartfelt video message following an earlier announcement by Kensington Palace on January 17 about her planned abdominal surgery.
Before unveiling her health battle, Princess Kate was spotted in a car with her mother, Carol, in images captured by Backgrid.
This sighting marked her first appearance since the surgery, signifying a period of resilience and familial support.
Sources close to the family indicated that both Carol and Michael Middleton, along with Prince Charles, have been pillars of strength for Princess Kate during this challenging time.
In a show of solidarity, Prince William reportedly shared a casual drink with Carol at a local pub in April, emphasizing the close-knit relationship between the families.
The Middletons’ proximity to Kate and William’s residence in Windsor allows for frequent visits from their grandchildren – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The grandparents play a significant role in the children’s lives, offering support and stability, especially during Kate’s treatment and recovery phase.
Following the Trooping the Colour event, Prince William and Princess Kate’s social media page shared glimpses of the day, capturing heartwarming moments with their children.
The Royal Family’s appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace showcased unity and affection, with Princess Kate tending to Princess Charlotte’s hair in a touching gesture.
Trooping the Colour not only symbolized a public reunion for the family but also highlighted the resilience and continuity of royal traditions amidst personal challenges.
