Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, has been granted the prestigious title of Duchess of Edinburgh, following the announcement that her husband, Prince Edward, has inherited his late father’s Duke of Edinburgh title.

In celebration of his 59th birthday today, the King has bestowed this honor upon his youngest brother.

This elevation in royal status for Sophie, who is 58 years old, serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Queen’s daughter-in-law, affectionately known as Mama.
